With the introduction of the idea of sustainable development, the challenges of social, economic, physical and environmental in cities, more than any other time, was considered. Urban growth and the subsequent increase of the urban population, in addition to, social and economic problems, with irreparable environmental damage, have followed, So that the long-term future of cities, due to unrecoverable costs on the environment, has been compromised. Therefore, urban planners, to achieve sustainable development, pay to designs in keeping with the environment, that eco city is sample of them. Isfahan, as the third metropolis of the country, despite having a natural potential to becomeeco city, such cities that it's increasing growth can cause many challenges. For this reason, this study is trying to find a suitable area for the implementation of ecological patterns and design in keeping with the sustainable development. Method of this study is Descriptive- analytical. Use factor and cluster analysis in spss software, toanalyze andPrioritization of the 14 areas of Isfahan. To achieve to this goal is used Sustainable development indicators with the approach of eco city, such as environmental, transportation, social and physical indicators. The results indicate that among 14 are as of Isfahan city, region 12 has the highest potential, Region 4 medium potential, region 9 has less potential and other regions of the city (78% of the areas) are disadvantaged in terms of having ecological indicators. Between having green spaces in urban areas and the potential of areas to become eco city, there is a little positive relationship. So the only having green space in areas, are not enough to design eco city, but social, economic, and physical infrastructure in site Should be at an acceptable level.
