The present research was performed to determine the main components of emotional intellegence & the relationship between the emotional intelligence and high schools students’ achievement as well as the differences among girls and boys regarding emotional intelligence. To achieve the mentioned goals, the standard questionnaire of Sibryashring self-assessment including 33 items was chosen to measure all students’ emotional intelligence and their final mean score obtained in the academic year of 1386-87 as their achievement. The research is descriptive of correlational type. The method of gathering data was simple and classified random sampling. The research sample was chosen out of 38 0 students using Morgan Table. The collected data were analyzed by using measures such as; mean, standard deviation, pearson correlation, t-test. Findings showed that the main components of emotional intelligence are self– motivation, self-acknowledgement, self-control, social consciousness, social skills, and that there are significant correlation between emotional intelligence and students’ achievement and there is significant difference between girls’ and boys’ emotional intelligence.
