Village is regarded as the smallest geographical unit whose inhabitants’ earnings are based on the exploitation of land. Integrated development requires increasing production, improving the level of knowledge and motivation, providing different services, improving and developing communication network and transportation, renovating rural houses, creating various potentials of job opportunities, modifying and regulating spatial network of rural habitats in order to reach a major development in country. The region under study is Khomam district of Rasht in Gillan province. With an area of 157/975 square kilometer, this district has one town, three villages and forty rural spots. The town of Komam, center of district, is located in 60 kilometers of Rasht city, the center of province. In the present article, the natural, social, populatory, cultural, political, economic, and spatial - skeletal features of Khomam villages are investigated. To answer the question of “how can an Integrated development planning be achieved?” , the applied objectives and the particular necessities of the present research are used to answer the main question of the project. And, by choosing SWOT analytic model, the weak and strong points, opportunities and threats are researched so that an optimal planning for developing rural areas can be presented.
