The main aim of this study is to explore the driving and restraining forces which affect the new venture creation in the Humanities Business Incubator Center in Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Based on a case study method with a qualitative approach, 16 semi-structured interviews were conducted. The results revealed that individual characteristics of entrepreneurs, humanities capacities, university’ s organizational support, congruence of the university major with entrepreneur’ s character, internal dynamism, purposefulness of the work team, group working experience and legal support were introduced as driving factors. The unknown nature of humanities field, university’ s weak support, lack of correct understanding of the humanitie’ s technologies, student’ s lack of self-confidence, weakness in team working, lack of sufficient financial resources, lack of a multidisciplinary approach to humanities, unsuccessful presence in the market and weak legal supports are the important restraining factors which are barriers in the way of the Humanities Business Incubator Center of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
