14 Gene Bank, is a new winter bread wheat line developed through the experiments evaluating Iranian bread wheat landraces to drought stress. Eualuation of the new line under severe drought stress in Maragheh research station (1998-2000) showed that, it was very early, had high grain potential and more drought tolerant compare with Sardari, the check cultivar. It was also studied in advanced and regional uniform yield trails in Maragheh, Ardebil, Qidar, Qamloo, Sararood and Shirvan research stations (2000-04). Results revealed that this line is more tolerant to drought and cold, thus its suitable for cold and moderate-cold drylands of Iran, and it has higher grain yield (2682 kgha-1) and 1000 kernel weight than widely grown improved check cultivars Sardari and Azar 2. It is a winter habit and early maturity, 78 cm plant height, 37g 1000 kernel weight, grain color is white and with 12.2% protein content. Based on these favourable characteristics, the new line was officially released by Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization of Iran in 2010 under the name of Ohadi.
