Abstract: 

Since Science is a social phenomenon, active groups of actors in a scientific field are called scientific community. The relationship between scientific capital and scientific community constructs the subject matter of current paper which is addressed through Pierre Bourdieu’ s field theory and his theory of Habitus. Scientific community of sociology in various universities of Tehran were selected as the research population and 163 professors were interviewed in this study. Results show that sociology as a scientific community enjoys acceptable rates of social and cultural capitals and there is a positive significant correlation between the two of them and scientific capital.

Abstract: 

This study aims to investigate the effect of demographic variables on quadratic levels of the digital divide (Van Dijk’ s model), including material and physical access, motivational access, digital literacy and skills, and usage. The study population included 600 citizens of Rafsanjan, Iran. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire and were analyzed in SPSS. The results showed that the variables of gender and marital status had significant effects on two levels of the digital divide. Gender had significant effects on physical access and digital literacy and skills. Men had higher levels of physical and material access and digital literacy and skills. Marital status also had significant effects on motivational access and digital literacy and skills; as, single individuals showed higher levels of motivational access and digital literacy and skills. Other demographic variables including age, educational qualifications, job status, and income had significant effects on various levels of the digital divide. Individuals aged 20-40 had higher levels of material and motivational access, digital literacy and skills and usage and aging resulted in decreased access and increased digital divide. Those with higher economic and social status, who had higher levels of education and income and better jobs, had better access. In fact, digital divide decreased with an increase in education and income. Finally, it can be concluded that demographic variables play a substantial role in the creation and expansion of the digital divide.

Abstract: 

The aim of this study is to investigate and compare marriage and childbearing ideals between two generations i. e. mothers and their offspring in Sanandaj district. The research data has been obtained from Sanandaj's Fertility Ideals and Behaviors Survey in 2014. A sample of 420 people was drawn from the available data, containing 210 mothers and 210 single offsprings (107 boys and 103 girls). The results of this study, although indicates the relative similarity of respondents attitudes toward some of the marriage arrangements, but it confirms the tangible differences between the generations and, in some cases, inner-generation in many of the marriage and childbearing attitudes and ideals. On one hand, descendants in comparison with their mothers tend to have less consanguine marriages, they consider less number of children with more time spacing as ideal and assign less value to having children. On the other hand, the attitude of the daughters in comparison with the male counterparts in these areas seems more different and modern. Part of the differences observed in those ideals can be attributed to differences of individuals’ background characteristics including education, age, place of residence and employment status which is consistent with the theoretical discussion of structural change and findings from previous studies.

Abstract: 

Iran hosts Many Afghan refugees. Authorities’ interviews and speeches, various news in the media, and ongoing debates among people indicate assignment of labor market problems to Afghan refugees in Iran and their dominance over the labor market. It seems that these problems are blamed on Afghan residents by some part of citizens. Therefore people recognize them as responsible for Iranian youth unemployment and express negative emotions towards them (Ruhani, 2015). This study aims to investigate the process of formation of such negative emotions. Using a qualitative approach and grounded theory through theoretical sampling, deep interviews were conducted with youth in Shiraz. Research findings via open, axial and selective coding include 14 main categories, 48 secondary categories, and 218 concepts. To sum up, these categories were presented in one final category of “ Frustrating Cost and benefit” . Social processes leading to Iranian youth ascribing their unemployment to Afghan refugees were analyzed and narrated. A paradigmatic model was depicted and a substantive-micro level theory of "negative emotions formation" from Afghan refugees was presented.

Abstract: 

This paper seeks to investigate a new type of migration in Koohdasht city which is immigration to Tehran to carry out criminal activities. Unknown factors and the way in which these migrations take place made it necessary to use the qualitative approach in order to explore the subject matter. Grounded theory method was used to look at the field of research and achieve an emic and etic view of the problem in order to examine the conditions for the formation of this type of migration, as well as the processes and trends affecting its continuity as well as the consequences of this phenomenon. Therefore a fairly comprehensive understanding of the issue was achieved. 28 participants were interviewed through purposeful sampling. Participants included families, koohdasht residents, and drug vendors. The findings of this study gave rise to 12 different categories for families and residents and another 14 for drug vendors. The main categories emphasized in this study that were shared by all groups were the concept of the pressure of socioeconomic structures and poverty.

Abstract: 

Academic alienation, as one of the forms of alienation mean the separation of students from the learning process and the experience of isolation from a school or college group that a person must belong to it or be involved in it. The present study tries to analyze the academic alienation and its dimensions among university students on the one hand and the relationship between repugnance at the level of off-campus field and alienation on the other hand. Present study was carried out using a survey method. Data was collected using self-administered questionnaire. The statistical population of the study were students of Mazandaran University. A sample size of 390 students were selected as respondents using a stratified sampling method proportional to the size based on the Cochran formula. Findings of the research showed that there is a positive correlation between off-campus indices (job ambiguity, credentialism, dignity crisis) and dependent variable of academic alienation. Also, testing research theoretical model indicated that the off-campus field along with its components, explained %49 of changes in academic alienation. Based on findings and theoretical framework-Bourdieu's theory of Hysteresis-off-campus fields (job ambiguity, credentialism, dignity crisis) fits students’ habitus in balanced conditions. But when off-campus fields change, the habitus loses its versatility in conditions of imbalance and this state of disorder leads to academic alienation. In fact, students see themselves at risk due to the imbalance of the fields that surround them, and their reaction to collapse in academic fields is academic alienation.

Abstract: 

This article analyzes social issues considered and discussed in scholars' weblogs in Ilam province and intends to firstly identify the most important social issues which had been discussed by these bloggers and secondly study the way they projected and reconstructed these issues. This research has gathered, compiled and analyzed the social issues mentioned in blogs of Illam Province’ s bloggers using a qualitative approach. All compiled information was analyzed and categorized using Nvivo Edition 8 software. Research data shows the subjects discussed were in the following order: social issues (37%), economic issues (25. 5%), cultural issues (22%) and political matters (15. 5%). Most bloggers rightly focused on a few sociological social issues. They first pointed out that the described issues are products of the defective structure of the society. Secondly, all various social issues are somehow interrelated to each other and thirdly many of these social problems and issues are resolvable.

Abstract: 

Since a decade ago, Iran has been in economic crisis and anomic situation. Peoples’ aspirations and goals are of the factors and mechanisms that transform economic crisis into social problems and deviances. Accordingly, present research studies levels of youth aspirations, particularly economic aspirations, and their consequences. Using a survey method, youth between 25-30 years of age have been studied. Results show that a quarter of the population under study have anomic aspirations. Anomia, helplessness, relative deprivation, dissatisfaction with life and deviant behavior are among the consequences of such aspirations.

Abstract: 

Environmental crises-including production of huge amounts of waste in metropolises-have become a serious problem today. The present study applied the Bourdieu Cultural Capital Theory to study the role of the cultural capital of families in Tehran in their environmental behavior. The research method was, survey and sample size consisted of 384 families in regions no. 11 and 20 of Tehran Municipality, selected by multistage cluster sampling method. The findings showed that there is a direct correlation between the cultural capital of families and their environmental behaviors, whereas in relation to the sub-scales of cultural capital, the relationship between the objectified and the embodied cultural capital has a direct effect on the environmental behaviors, and institutionalized cultural capital lacks direct effect. In sum, the objectified cultural capital embodied cultural capital, institutionalized cultural capital, age and residence time in the neighborhood had been most effective on the environmental behaviors of families. Findings, especially lack of direct effect of education on the improvement of environmental behavior, indicate that environment training has not been effective in Iran and the education system has failed to institutionalize such training in individuals and families.

Abstract: 

The main objective of this study is to explain the role of social (intra and extra-university) and individual factors of academic burnout among university students, measured by the three components of “ academic exhaustion” , “ academic disinterest” and “ academic inefficacy” . The present study is a survey of 329 undergraduate and graduate students of the University of Isfahan, selected through stratified sampling method across a variety of disciplines. The results showed that academic motivelessness, educational satisfaction, hope for future employment and academic participation have a direct impact on academic burnout while the interaction between faculties and students, departmental atmosphere, symbolic capital, and significant others have an indirect impact. Also, the quality of the learning environment and contact with classmates did not show a significant relationship. The results showed that the most important causes of academic burnout among students are lack of motivation, dissatisfaction with education, disappointment in future employment and lack of academic participation. As a whole, the results suggest that social factors through individual factors and their complex combination have an undeniable impact on academic burnout.
