Abstract: 

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to evaluate the feasibility of applying “5s “system in resources and reference unit of information division of National library of Iran. Methodology: In this research data are collected through measuring. The society of this research is resources and reference unit of information division of National library of Iran. Data collected through 5 checklist that were designed and customize with 5s system standard checklist. Collected data from each s analyzed by k2 test and median test.Findings: Evaluation shows that 14.9 % of total cases doesn't observe the 5s system. 12.04 % is in poor level, 13.8% is in significant level, 20.8 % is in well level and 38.3 % is in complete level of observing 5s system.Conclusion: resources and reference unit of information division of National library of Iran are in a relatively good situations regarding to applying 5s system. There is possibility of applying 5s system in level below (the error) 0/05 as error in information division of National library of Iran and the hypothesis of this research confirms. Also managers should pay more attention to S5 and learning conceptions of that among employees of resources and reference unit of information division of National library of Iran.

Abstract: 

Purpose: This study aims to investigate influencial factors on accepting audio archive by radio program makers of IRIB in North West of Iran.Methodology: This research is based on Davis’ Technology Acceptance Model which has been done via analytical survey method. The Population of this research is 100 radio program makers in North West of Iran who are from Uramia, Tabriz, Ardabil, Zanjan, Qazvin, Sanandaj and Mahabad. These people have been asked one by one, because of limitation in members- census method. The tool which is used for data gathering is organized questionnaire.Findings: Findings show that all program Makers variables in this research Acceptance Technology Model, on the use of digital archive system- voice effects are: Subjective perception of usefulness, ease of use of subjective perceptions, and attitudes toward the decision to use ITConclusion: At the end of the study, according to its findings recommend acceptance of accelerated system for digital voice archive of the Islamic Republic of Iran is presented.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The aim of this research is t evaluate the role of Rose Net digital, library to meet the information needs of the faculty members of IAU-Shiraz Branch.Methodology: the evaluative survey method is assigned in this research. The statistical society are the full time faculty members of IAU-Shiraz Branch. The tool for information gathering is questionnaire. The data is analysed using descriptive and analytical statistics by Spss.Findings: The research showed that 78.2% of the faculty members ‘ aim of searching information are to earn specialized and updated information, and more than 80% have used Rose Net in this respect. More than 52% of information needs of the members are met by Rose Net.Conclusion: There are meaningful differentiate between the amount of usage of Rose Net by the different educational departments, education level and the scientific rank of the faculty members.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study the different reference services offerd in central libraries of Islamic Azad University.Methodology: The research method is descriptive, and to gather information a researcher made questionnaire including82 questions related to different aspects of the reference sources and services has been used. The research community included 75 very big and comprehensive IAU central libraries. Findings: Findings indicate that 51.5% of the reference librarians are male and 45.3 p% females, 28.2%, have B.A of LIS and 9.8 %have M.A of LIS, among whom 43 %are familiar with English language.Results show that among traditional reference services, providing a copy of document is outmost one by 21.6% and the offering the other specialized services are not in a proper state. Individual users’ training is the first preference of the librarians by 41.5 % and the main reason of the librarians for not answering the user’s needs is lack of reference sources.Conclusion: Finally an organizational model is presented for reference department of all central academic libraries focusing on IAU.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The purpose of this feasibility study is to investigate the offering of the electronic reference services in academic libraries of Hamedan. It is tried to review the situation, facilities and requirements of the libraries needed for electronic reference services for planning future job on developing these services.Methodology: It is an analytical survey. The questionnaire is used to gather information. The statistical population is 22 university and college Libraries in the city of Hamedan. The statistical analysis is done by SPSS using Chi- Square and “T” test.Findings: Research findings show that the libraries from the point of electronic and IT equipments for data collecting, processing, storage, retrieval and disseminating of information in written and oral forms are not in a good condition. It was also showed that the university libraries provide reference services with 59% percent of the limit of low or very low for using Internet services. Other research findings indicate that more than 14 libraries equal to 63.7% of the services are traditional. Also, video conferencing as a tool of communication in reference division has no use. And the e-mail and digital room conversation (chat) in reference services are not in good condition. Skilled manpower in the reference services are moderate,Conclusion: On the whole, despite the agreement of the mother organization for providing the electronic reference services, 82% percent of the libraries don’t have separate budget and financial support.

Abstract: 

Purpose: This research aims to determine the level of information literacy of the B.S. senior students of the Iran Science and Technology University-Arak Branch.Methodology: The research method is analytical survery. The data is gatherered by an organized quastionnare, the statistical population include 213 senoir students of B.S. among whom 83% are answered the questionnaires. The basic information for the questions were extracted from Standard of US. Educational and Research Libraries Society, Standard for New York Libraries Society, Standard of International Educational Technology Society and the criteria of US. Educational Test Center. The data analysis is done by SPSS using descriptive and inferential statistics such as: frequency, independent t and variance analysis.Findings: The results show that the majority of the research populations are lower than average level in distinction of need to information, but in access skills, evaluation and using of information as well as orientation with juridical issues of information, skills of background literacy information and understanding of information importanceare higher than the average level. Also the most effective factor in information literacy of students is declared unofficial learning via university professors and friends.Conclusion: As a rsult, information literacy of the students after statistical analysis is higher than the average level with the average number 2.36.The first hypotheses regarding the low information literacy of the students then is not confirmed, but the other hypotheses regarding the equality of information literacy of the different courses- day and night courses- and the gender equality– male and female -is confirmed.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The present paper aims to compare the utilization and ability of medical students in using the electronic resources of the IDL portal of Iran.Methodology: The survey was conducted through a structured questionnaire circulated among 300 medical students taken from three main universities. A stratified accidental random sample method was used for selection of respondents and interacting with them. These respondents were among those available in the university campus during the survey period. The descriptive statistics methods such as the frequency tables, column graphs and calculation of the central indexes such as “average” have been used to analyze the data which have been practiced by the Excel.Findings: The findings of this research demonstrate that the awareness and utilization level of the students in the three universities are lower than average. The students of the three universities declare the lack of acquaintance with this digital library as their most significant problem. Among the investigated universities, students of Tehran University use the EndNote, Elsevier, Thomson, Scopus and Proquest databases most. All the subject students express the effect of the IDL on the scientific activities as too much. The average points for utilization of searching strategies are 2.43, 2.89 and 2.87 respectively for Iran, Tehran and Shahid Beheshti Universities.Conclusion: Our findings suggest that the research capability of students is below average. Knowledge and ability of them must be improved.

Abstract: 

Purpose: This research aims to compare the Dissertation abstracts of MLIS students in Islamic Azad university-Tehran North branch and Science and research branch with the ISO214 abstracting standard during the years 2001 to 2007.Methodology: The methodology of the study was documentation-content analysis and applied method. For data collection, the Iso214 checklist was used. The sample population which is 156 out of 262 available dissertations is selected according to probability sampling in a classified systematic method. The collected information was analysed Based on descriptive and inferential statistics (T and F distribution test and chi-square test) by spss statistical software.Findings: findings showed that controling the standard abstracts writing in dissertations of both universities had an acceptable condition, in recent years, applying the standards of abstract writing is increased, the indicated rate of 14.8 %during the years, 2005 and 2006 also the rate of 53.9 %during 2007 is a good condition.The abstracts belonging to both genders are almost in the same condition from standard point of view. In terms of subject categories, most of the dissertations belong to the field of information technology and information communication with 20.5%. The highest level of meeting the Iso 214 standard was for "location of the abstract" and "use of third person pronoun" with 100 % and the least standard meeting were "keywords taken from the abstract contents" with 17.9%.Coclusions: Analyzing data of the research indicated that there was no meaningful differences between the two groups (t distribution=-0.27) and two genders of writers (t distribution=-0.44) according to Iso214.There was a meaningful difference between the abstract evaluation with iso214 and different years. There is also a meaningful co-relation between the level of abstract evaluations and the professor ranks according to the Iso standard (chi-square=6.12)
