Introduction: Sleep difficulties in patients are considered as a major problem. So, it is necessary to know and treat the patients suffering from sleep disorders. Therefore, this study aims to compare the effect of lavender oil aromatherapy and music therapy on sleep quality of burn patients. Methods: In this clinical trial, 48 patients admitted in burn ward of Shohadaye Mehrab Hospital of Yazd were randomly allocated into Music therapy or Aromatherapy groups. The study was carried out since November 2013 till April 2014. Aromatherapy and music therapy in each groups were performed for 20 minutes in three consecutive nights. Data collection was done using demographic information questionnaire and Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Data was analyzed using SPSS software version 18.Results: According to the findings, there was a considerable mean difference in sleep quality score before and after intervention in patients in music therapy group (p=0.005), while there was no significant difference in mean sleep quality score before and after intervention in aromatherapy group (p=0.17). According to the statistical test, there was no significant difference in mean sleep quality score between two experimental groups before and after intervention. The difference between sleep quality score before and after music therapy was much more than sleep quality score before and after aromatherapy but the difference was not significant(p=0.40). Conclusions: According to the findings, music therapy and aromatherapy for 20 minutes did not have a considerable effect on sleep quality of burn patients. Therefore, in order to get a better result, increasing the time, duration of the intervention and the participation of the patient's family in the interventions would be suggested.

Introduction: One of the major complications of hemodialysis patients is restless legs syndrome (RLS). Therefore, interventions are essential to its improvement. This study aimed to determine the effect of massage with glycerin oil on RLS in hemodyalysis patients. Methods: The present study is a randomized clinical trial in chronic renal failure patients undergoing hemodyalysis in Kamkar hospital, Ghom, Iran, 2014. Seventeen patients with RLS were selected after obtaining the informed consent by continuous method and randomly assigned into 2 groups. The intervention group received effleurage massage with glycerin oil, and the control group received the routine care of hemodyalysis ward. Data were collected by RLS questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive and analytical (Exact Fisher, dependent and independent t-test) statistic in Spss v16.Results: No significant difference found in RLS score between intervention (24.09±5.34) and control (22.9±4.38) groups in beginning of study. While mean of score RLS had significant decrease in massage with glycerin oil group (9.54±4.64) in comparison with the control group (23.23±4.52) (p=0.0001).Conclusion: it is recommended to use effleurage massage with glycerin oil as a complementary therapy to decrease the RLS in hemodyalysis patients.

Introduction: Introduction: Sleep plays an important role in children’s growth and development. Since sleep disturbance is a common complaint in children with cerebral palsy, the present study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of Dosaho on sleep quality in children with cerebral palsy with the age range of 4 to 12.Methods: The present research is a semi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design and a control group. The population of the study consisted of all children with cerebral palsy in Yazd. 30 male patients were selected using convenience sampling method and divided into the experimental and control groups. Before the beginning of the treatment, parents filled the quality of sleep questionnaire and at the end of the treatment period in the post-test phase the same assessment was filled out again. The treatment period in the experimental group was 12 sessions (three sessions a week and each session 50 minutes). Also the statistical analysis used in this study included descriptive and inferential studies. Results: results obtained from the analysis of covariance showed that psychological rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy improves the quality of sleep. The sleep quality scores before and after the intervention were 7.74±19.35 and 7.0±13.64 respectively, indicating a significant difference (p=0.005).Conclusion: since the outbreak of cerebral palsy is raising and results in a wider set of symptoms, in the future, patients may have an increased need for rehabilitation. Dohsa-hou, as a complementary psychological rehabilitation approach, is an effective treatment to improve the quality of sleep of these patients.

Introduction: In the infants, meconium passage is an important phenomenon in the first days of life and acceleration its excretion can prevent complications. Foot reflexology is one of complementary therapies that can help to improve health status. The purpose of this study was to determine effect of foot reflexology on meconium passage in healthy infants. Methods: In this controlled clinical trial, 60 infants with written informed consent from parents were selected and divided randomly into three experiment, sham and control groups. Reflexology was performed for experiment group on the intestines and colon area for 30 minutes 4 times and reflexology was carried out for sham group on the neutral area for the same duration. Data collected using demographic form and a researcher-made checklist. Data were analyzed using one-way and repeated measure ANOVA tests by spss-14.5.Results: In the experiment group, time of first meconium passage with mean of 6.95±1.78 was shorter than sham (9.17±1.80) and control (9.55±1.31) groups (p=0.001) and frequency of meconium passages in the first day of life was more than two groups (1.90±0.64, 1.30±0.57 and 1.60±0.68 in the experiment, sham and control groups respectively p=0.009). But there were no significant differences between groups in mean frequency of meconium passages in second, third and fourth days (p>0.05). Feeding intolerance in the infants of control group was more than another two groups (p=0.04(.Conclusion: The results showed positive effects of foot reflexology on improvement first time and frequency of meconium passage and feeding tolerance in healthy infants. Therefore this non-pharmacological method should be recommended as a supplement treatment in the healthy infants.
