Abstract:

Background: Disturbance in human relationships has significant negative effects on the quality of life of couples and their children. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of narrative couple therapy (NCT) and emotionally focused therapy (EFT) for couples on quality of life of individuals. Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study with pretest and posttest, and the statistical sample consisted of 45 insociable patients referred to Aftab Mehr and Rahe Eshgh counseling centers in Isfahan City, Iran. They were randomly divided to three equal groups, who received treatment in 5 sessions. Subjects were evaluated using Busby Quality of Life Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using chi-square, covariance analysis, Bonferroni post hoc, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) tests via SPSS software. Chi-square was used test to compare sex distribution and educational level among three groups, one-way ANOVA to compare the mean age of the three groups, and covariance analysis and Bonferroni post hoc test to assess the effect of therapeutic intervention on improving marital quality. Findings: The highest increase in marital quality of life was in the NCT group, and then in the EFT group. In control group, the decrease in the quality of life in the posttest was not significant compared to the pretest. Conclusion: NCT and EFT interventions has significant effect on marital quality of life compared to the control group.

Abstract:

Background: Exercise trainings have beneficial effects on myocardium by changing the concentration of growth factors and their receptors. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of eight weeks of high-intensity interval training on activin receptor type II in heart and plasma levels of myostatin in male rats. Methods: After the familiarization period, twenty male rats with the limitation of three months of age were randomly divided to control (n = 10) and high-intensity interval training (n=10) groups. High-intensity interval training was continued for eight weeks, five sessions in each week and each session lasted 80 minutes with 85-90 percent intensity of rats’ power with 20-degree ramp. Activin receptor type II in the myocardial left ventricle was measured using immunohistochemistry method, and myostatin was measured by the enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. The data were analyzed using independent-samples t test at the statistically significant level of P < 0. 050. Findings: In between groups comparison, there was a significant difference between the high-intensity interval training and control groups in myostatin variable (P = 0. 001). There was no significant difference between the groups in myocardium activin receptor type II (P = 0. 820). Conclusion: It cautiously seems that high-intensity interval training have desirable effects on reducing myostatin, but it has no effect on heart activin receptor type II.

Abstract:

Background: Pneumonia of unknown cause detected in Wuhan, China, was the first report on 31 December 2019. The World Health Organization (WHO) officially named it New Coronavirus Disease or COVID-19: "COVI" comes from coronavirus. The "D" stands for the disease. Chinese ministry of Health categorized it as a quarantined disease, and took strict preventive and control measures for this infectious disease. In Iran, the first cases of COVID-19 were reported from Qom on February 19, 2020, and spread to the other 31 provinces in 15 days. This study conducted to investigate some epidemiological features of the COVID-19 epidemic in Iran. Methods: This study was conducted as a narrative review from February 19 to March 15, 2020. In this study, the most recent documentation published in pieces of literature, especially in China, has been reviewed. Moreover, mortality and morbidity of definite cases in Iran were summarized and reported. Findings: The COVID-19 epidemic officially confirmed with two deaths in the city of Qom, Iran, on February 30, 2020, and spread rapidly throughout the 31 provinces in the country. During this period, 13938 cases and 724 deaths due to COVID-19 were reported by the Ministry of Health in Iran. Conclusion: Shreds of evidence suggests that early measures for timely action and early detection of COVID-19 were slightly delayed.
