Abstract: 

The purpose of this descriptive correlational study was to determine students' learning modalities using Witkin's field dependent and field-independent learning style (1976). Using stratified random sampling, 135 students in the Department of Agricultural Extension and Education participated in the study. Group Embedded Figures Test (GEFT) was used to collect data. Results revealed that the majority of students were field-dependent.This learning style clearly indicates that students are skillful in recognizing entrepreneurial opportunities. However, they were not competent in other entrepreneurial process such as planning, coordinating, and venture creation. Moreover, males favored field-independent learning style whereas females preferred a field-dependent learning style. Results of this study have some implications for choosing adequate learning styles for entrepreneurship education. Further recommendations are given based on the findings of the study.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this study was to examine the extent of participation of faculty members in educational planning and decision making processes in different departments of Islamic Azad University situated in its 10th university zone in academic year 1387-88. A stratified random sample of 280 faculty members participated in the study. Data were collected by a questionnaire developed by the researchers. Results showed no difference between faculty members in terms of participation in educational planning and decision making in different departments. It was found that participation of faculty members in educational decision making had increasing effect on their sense of ownership. There was no difference among academics in terms of demographic variables. No difference was found in participation in planning and decision making in relation to areas of learning and research as well as cultural and administrative issues.

Abstract: 

The purpose of this study was to examine relationship between organizational culture and job burnout among academics and non-academic employees in Tabriz University. Participants consisted of 209 subjects selected through stratified random sampling. All participants completed both the Hofsted Organizational Culture Questionnaire and Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Results indicated that the rational culture is dominant in Tabriz University. The levels of job burnout were found to be different in various types of organizational culture. However, job burnout was not different among various academic ranks. There was significant difference between academics and employees in terms of job burnout. The levels of job burnout were found to be different between females and males.Finally, results showed a negative relationship between organizational culture, and job burnout among employees.

Abstract: 

The purpose of the present study is to investigate the Five Level Academic Leadership among deans in comprehensive universities located in Tehran. A random sample of 13 deans and 150 faculty members of Shahid Beheshti University and Tarbiat Modarres University participated in this survey study. Data were collected by two instruments. The first one was the 5th Level Leadership questionnaires developed by the. The second one was a standardized questionnaire which developed by Ramsden to measure effective academic leadership. Results showed that deans had personality traits of 5th level leaders whereas they didn’t have professional traits of leaders at the same level. The relation between personality traits and professional traits was found to be significant. From faculty members' point of view, deans associated with the 5th level leadership were found to be more effective than others.

Abstract: 

Adoption of new management approaches at the Payam Noor University (PNU) central organization, resulted in paying particular attention to Knowledge management in order to meet university goals. Therefore, related literature was reviewed to develop a conceptual model along with variables involved. Data were collected using exploratory methods and focus groups.Survey instrument was administered to a random sample of 220 university staff at PNU. Results indicated that knowledge management through integrating intellectual properties could affect student-centered learning, organizational learning, rational leadership and decision making, process re-engineering, production of new knowledge, transferring tacit knowledge to explicit knowledge, and knowledge sharing towards improving performance and meeting intended objectives.

Abstract: 

The present study examined the effects of Action Research courses on professional skills of teachers in academic year 1386 - 1387 in Tehran. A randomly selected sample of 244 teachers participated in action research courses during 1383-86. Data were collected using a researcher- made questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale. Results showed that the effects of action research courses were significant on educational skills (M=85.4) and instructional skills (M=84.6). Significant difference was found between teachers with 10-20 years experience and others. Finally teachers with basic sciences background found the courses more effective compared to other participants.

Abstract: 

In this article, the key educational issues and problems are addressed in Iranian industrial and non-industrial organizations.Data were collected through structured interviews with more than 100 managers and experts across the organizations. Findings of the study were classified in four main categories, including: a) Training managers' approach to learning 2) organizational climate 3) administrative staff’s approach to learning 4) success of courses and their effectiveness. Finally, some suggestions were made according to issues and problems addressed in the study.
