Abstract: 

پژوهش ترکیبی به معنای اخص آن (یعنی ترکیب روش های کمی و کیفی در یک مطالعه پژوهشی واحد) به دلیل امکان بهره گیری از سودمندی ها هر دو رویکرد پژوهشی، مورد توجه پژوهشگران قرار گرفته است. این توجه و علاقمندی در بین دانشجویان علم اطلاعات و دانش شناسی هم مشاهده می شود. برخی از دانشجویان در هنگام انتخاب موضوع و روش پایان نامه ها خود نسبت به این رویکرد، علاقه یا به بیان بهتر کنجکاوی زیادی نشان می دهند. این کنجکاوی و علاقه، نویدبخش استفاده روزافزون از این رویکرد در پژوهش ها علم اطلاعات و دانش شناسی است. نکته مهم در این رابطه این است که اولین پژوهش ها یی که با استفاده از این رویکرد در رشته انجام می گیرند و منتشر می شوند در شکل گیری پژوهش ها بعدی نقش تعیین کننده ای خواهند داشت. چنان که اجرای این پژوهش ها و تهیه گزارش آن ها، مطابقت کامل با اصول انجام این رویکرد نداشته باشد، این الگوهای اولیه ناکامل، پژوهش ها بعدی را نیز خواه ناخواه دچار نقصان خواهد کرد. تمرکز صرف به تعریف ساده پژوهش ترکیبی و این تصور که رویکرد ترکیبی، صرفا در کنار هم قراردادن دو روش کمی و کیفی در یک پژوهش است بسیار ساده انگارانه خواهد بود. آگاهی از پیچیدگی ها موجود در این ترکیب و طرح ها متفاوت ترکیبی، نیازمند آموزش و مطالعه دقیق نحوه اجرا و چالش ها موجود در آن است.

Abstract: 

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the Children's National Digital Library of I. R. Iran. We strived to evaluate the user interface (UI) of the library with “general criteria for evaluating digital libraries” that have been extracted by Noruzi (2009) and functionalities of the library by special criteria extracted by researchers.Method: The study used an evaluative document study method. The researcher used to compare the user interface and core functionalities of the library against extracted criteria.Findings: Findings of the study showed that conformation rate of the Library's interface with the general criteria was 28/62 percent and this account for general and special criteria was 91/90 percent.Results: Combining the obtained results in evaluation of user interface from the viewpoints of public and special evaluating criteria, the National Library of Children and Adolescent have suitably operated.

Abstract: 

Purpose: This study aimed to determine attitudes of users of Rasa software in the National Library of the Islamic Republic of Iran.Methodology: The research method was analytical survey and data collection has been done through using questionnaire. Research population consists of patrons who use Rasa software at the National Library and Archives of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Data and descriptive statistics are presented in frequency tables. Inferential statistics and hypothesis tests for independent and paired t test, Pearson correlation coefficient was used.Findings: The results showed that majority of patrons using Rasa software were women. The results also showed that the users with degree of master were more than other levels of achievement. The viewpoint of users regarding display feature of Rasa showed that majority of them were satisfied with the display elements and they were familiar with it. A significant percentage of users (40%) have not evaluate the most elements of search and retrieve, and interaction & support features and it indicates lack of use or lack of familiarity with the software features.Results: the results reveal that the view points of the users regarding the facilities and features of Rasa were different. It is necessary the Rasa designers revise it based on the user’s needs and o teach the search, retrieve and support and interaction features to users and inform them of the facilities of Rasa.

Abstract: 

Purpose: To evaluate the conformity of subject headings for the books published in Persian with those of the Database of National Library of Iran from 1384 to 1388.Methodlogy: The research data randomly selected from the bibliography of the Database of National Library of Iran. After sampling, the samples totaled 2493 titles which was determinded as the stratified Dewey Classification. The statistical population was 278237 titles in 1384-1388. Because of the main work was based on the ten classified subjects of Dewey Classification, the references of the “see”, “see also” and “see under”were calculated for the determination of the conformity scale of titles and subjects..Findings: There was conformity about 99.9 percent between the titles and subjects selected from the Persian Subject Headings. Also, there was conformity in 1 percent of the total books surveyed through references of “see under” and 0.5 percent through “see” and 0.3 through “see also” references with the titles of the books.Conclusion: According to the research findings, there are conformity of 100 percent in the classifications of social science, language, pure science, practical science, arts and entertainments, literature, history, geography and the related sciences.. Also, Religion 99/ 8 percent, generalities 99/6 percent, philosophy and psychology 99/2 percent, benefit the highest level of conformity with the titles and subjects of books of which three titles of books, that is, one title related to religion, one title to generalities, one title to philosophy and Psychology, had no conformity with the assigned subjects.

Abstract: 

Purpose This research aims to examine content analysis of traditional reference questions.Methodology: A content analysis method was used to measure all traditional reference questions during one month including 354 questions.Findings: Types of reference questions, relationship between asked questions and sociological characteristics of patrons, subject approach of traditional reference questions and the extent to which the patrons of reference desk use virtual reference services of NLAI all were discussed in the paper. Data analyzing of the research showed that the research population mostly includes women (65.53%) and the educational degree of most of patrons is M.S degree (49.29%). Also the findings showed that ready reference questions (42.66%) are mostly asked at reference desk while research reference questions (6.78%) are from the ones which have been less questioned. Most of the questions are in the subjects of computer science, information & general works (000) and the least of them are in the fields of philosophy & psychology (100) according to DDC.Originality/ value: Members of NLAI do not go to reference desk to ask their reaserch questions so NLAI should effectively plan to inform about such services (traditional and digital) through broushoures both electronic and printed ones and also holding educational workshops.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The objective of this research is to investigate on the Tehran University of Medical Sciences libraries with the Iranian university libraries standards. University Libraries are part of the system of higher education provide and disseminate and dissemination the specialized information for the medical community.Methodology: The research used evaluative survey method. The study population consisted of a central library and the 9 colleges that are affiliated to the Tehran University of Medical Sciences.Findings: The central library, dental, pharmacy, medicines with (79-83 percent in total compliance with the standard) in general are in better condition than other libraries. School of management and psychiatry with (66-79 percent in total compliance with the standard) are in the next rank and school of Health Affairs with (49% in total compliance with the standard) is not in good condition and for its promotion, serious steps should be taken.Conclusion: On the whole, results showed that no library is conformed completely to the standards. Mainly in the areas of staffing and budgeting, they face problems.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The main objectives of this study is to examine the views of librarians and graduate students of Tehran Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch, about e-books.Methods: The provided methodology in this study is descriptive- analytic survey. Regarding the magnitude of research society, the sampling method was employed in this research and also the classification random sampling method was adopted in order to determine the number of samples. Totally, 357 out of 15000 graduate students, as well as the whole of 40 librarians working at the University participated in the study. The data was explained by questionnaires and Excel software, then the statistical estimations, such as abundance percentage was conducted.Findings: The results indicate that some of the most important evaluation criteria of e-books from the viewpoints of graduate students of Tehran Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch are book content search capability from the views of 352 persons (93.87 percent), capability of advanced search from the views of 351 persons (93.61 percent). Also, according to results some of the most important evaluation criteria of e-books in viewpoints of librarians of the university are suitability to library facilities from the views of 40 persons (100 percent), interests of members to use of e-books from the views of 40 persons (100 percent), and the clarity of bibliographic information in order to organize the resources from the views of 38 persons (95 percent).Results: All of the considered electronic criteria of books, whether in search capability or structure, from the viewpoints of the students and librarians, include high significance and the society surveyed are acquainted with these kinds of books. Also, it is observable that all of the criteria are accepted (more than 75 percents) in selecting the majority of the society.

Abstract: 

Purpose: Since Library and Information Science is one of the jobs that are constantly in touch with users with varying information needs and different characteristics, it must have strong communication and have the ability to establish communication skills with users. As much, this relationship is appropriately established and effectively expanded, equally the librarian and the library will be more successful in achieving their goals. The purpose of this study is to determine components of communication skills and their relationship with demographic characteristics in librarians of Isfahan University and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. This study is descriptive survey and data collection tool, is standardized questionnaires of Queendom communication skills.Methods: Statistical population includes 117 librarians of the academic library in Isfahan University and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. The sample consists of 117 librarians, and method of sampling is the census. Validity and reliability of questionnaires was confirmed by face and content validity and coefficient of Cronbachs Alpha (r=0.86). Methods of data collection, was personal. Data analyzed by SPSS16 software and two levels of descriptive (Mean and SD) and inferential statistics (T-test, Manova test and LSD).Findings: The findings showed that mean of communication skills and components in librarians of Isfahan University and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences were more than average. The firmly and vision components in male librarians of Isfahan University and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences was further than women. Setting emotions in the age group 38 to 47 years was more than the librarians in the age group 18 to 37 years. Emotion setting in librarian with diploma degree was less than that of the librarians, with BA degree.Results: Survey of components of communication skills showed that the mean of components were more than average and there is significant relationship between the firmly and vision components with gender and there is also significant relationship between emotion setting with age and degree.

Abstract: 

Purpose: The main purpose of this research is to identify the information literacy level of Ph.D. students and faculty members of the Research Institute of Hawzeh and University in Qom.Methodology: In this study, in order to evaluate the information literacy level of PhD students and faculty members of the Research Institute of Hawzeh and University in Qom, survey and analytical methods are conducted. The population of current research is 77 individual that included all PhD students and faculty members of the Research Institute of Hawzeh and University. Data collecting is based on two methods of field and library studies. A researcher- made questionnaire was used to gather information [data]. The questionnaire consists 27 items. Of the 77 questionnaires distributed, a total of 67 completed questionnaires were returned. Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient was calculated to determine the reliability and obtained 0.83 that showed good reliability of the questionnaire.Findings: Findings of the study show that 60.9 percents of the statistical population are highly expert in recognition of information needs and identification of its nature and range. Also, 48.8 percent of researchers are completely familiar with information access and acquisition methods. According to the statistical results, in the 57.85 percent of the population, the level of familiarity with the information assessment methods is highly desirable. Also, 58.3 of the statistical populations get benefit in large.
