Short-form of interpersonal problems scale were completed by participants at the beginning and during emotional disclosure intervention sessions The visual inspection of charts, indices of procedure change, slope and effect size indicated substantially reduction in interpersonal prolems of children with oppositional defiant disorder. Overall, written emotionioal disclosure could be considered as an effective strategy to psychological interventions for children with oppositional defiant disorder’s interpersonal problems.

Abstract:

Background: Aggression and assertiveness are confused with each, while the rights of all respected in the assertiveness and it is an important aspect of social skills. Assertiveness has been associated with neuroticism, depression, and anxiety. Although many assertiveness instruments have been developed for research and clinical purposes, one common shortcoming is a lack of discriminant validity with regard to aggression. Further, the wording of many instruments is outdated and discriminatory. The present research was to develop a more sensitive instrument measuring two distinguishable forms of assertiveness: adaptive assertiveness and aggressive assertiveness. Objectives: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the psychometric properties Adaptive and Aggressive Assertiveness Scales (AAA-S) (Thompson, & Berenbaum,) in Iran society.Method and Results: To pursue this aim 317 (167 female and 132 male) Shiraz university students were selected by multistage random cluster sampling method. Participants completed AAA-S. Principal Component factor analysis was used to evaluate the construct validity of the instrument. The results showed that two factors of Adaptive and Aggressive assertiveness could be extracted. Findings showed that there was a positive relationship between AAA-S and The Assertion Inventory which provided evidence to support the criteria convergent validity of the AAA-S. Also result showed that the aggressive assertiveness scale was associated with various forms of aggression. The AAA-S showed a good reliability as well as Cronbach alpha coefficient. The results indicated two subscales of AAA-S and it was the same with the source model. In general, the results revealed that AAA-S is a reliable and valid measure to be used for Iranian Students and it can be used for clinical and research purposes. Conclusion: To summarize, the results of the present research suggest that the AAA-S provides a valid means of assessing assertiveness for Iranian students. It has several advantages compared with alternative instruments. The wording of the AAA-S does not include heterosexist items and reflects terminology considered socially appropriate by present-day standards. Further, it allows the measurement of two separate forms of assertiveness, namely adaptive and aggressive assertiveness. Because of this, the AAA-S allows researchers and clinicians to measure assertiveness in a way that does not confound assertiveness and aggression, and does not underestimate the tendency of women to engage in assertive behaviors.

Abstract:

Content analysis is the process of qualities' transforming to the quantities and then converting the same quantity to the quality. This method is more used in research process, combinative research /consolidated research, review of facts ‘image and examining the conformity rate of programs with the features as well as the structure and content characteristics. Content analysis method is based on the assumption that the meanings discovery, preferences, attitudes, ways of understanding and organizing the world can be achieved by analyzing the verbal messages. This method that is applied in different subjects of social sciences such as communication, sociology, political science and psychology, the researchers (as a flexible way for data analysis) have particular attention in relation to it. The content analysis method is placed between the two subjective and objective poles. In other words, the combinative approach of content analysis could be more applicable today than the merequantity-orientation or quality-orientation.

Introduction: The aim of the present research was investigate the effectiveness of mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) on quality of life and resiliency of Veterans Spouses in Ahvaz city. Methods: Among female referred to the psychological services of veterans in Ahvaz city, 28 people were chosen by using the randomly sampling method to take part in the study. The study is experimental field study, with pre-test, post-test and a control group. The subjects were randomly distributed in to two groups experimental and control. The experimental group was received 8 sessions of mindfulness based stress reduction. All subjects were requested to fill in the Quality of life and resiliency scale.Result: results for multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) showed that MBSR treatment had significant outcome on quality of life and resiliency on the experimental group. Conclusion: Mindfulness based stress reduction can significantly enhance the quality of life and resiliency of Veterans Spouses.

Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to study the effectiveness of training executive functions and the training of parental management on anxiety symptoms on children. In this study, the Quasri-Experimental Design with pre-post testing method is considered. The population of the study contained the 114 preschool children (4-5 years old) with the anxiety disorders who were selected from the region six in the city of Tehran. Sixty children were selected into three groups of twenty individuals by using the simple random sampling method. In first group, children received executive function training; in second group, parents received parental management while the third group received no training. The Spence Children's Anxiety Scale (SCAS) (Spence, 1998) test measurement was considered. The analysis of covariance methodology was utilized to analyze the data. The result of analysis shown that the groups who received training were significantly reduced in the post-test compared to pre-test (P<0.001). In addition, the second group who received parental management training in comparison with executive function training group was significantly reduced in post-test compared to pre-test (P<0.001). Therefore, the effectiveness of training executive functions and parental management was confirmed for the anxiety disorders treatment in children; however, the parental management is more effective.

Abstract:

Mindfulness is effective via trans diagnostic mechanisms such as planning. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of mindfulness meditation training on planning function of female adolescents with sub threshold symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in Tower of London Test (TLT). The current study was experimental including pretest-posttest design with control group. The statistical population of this study was all female adolescents (13 to 15 years) with sub threshold ADHD symptoms that after screening, 30 subjects as the members of sample were randomly assigned to the treatment group (n=15) and control group (n=15). Mindfulness meditation practices was presented to the treatment group in 8 sessions of 90 minutes during 8-week however, the control group received no training. TLT was performed on both groups before and 1 month after intervention. The results of one-way analysis of covariance showed that the planning function of the treatment group in TLT was improved significantly (p<0.05) in number of correctly solved items and percentage correct score in 1 month after intervention relative to the control group with large effect size however, there was no significant difference between two groups in planning time and total time in 1 month after intervention. Totally, mindfulness meditation training improves the planning function in TLT in sub threshold ADHD female adolescents. Treatment development efforts should target clinical populations that exhibit difficulties in this trans diagnostic mechanism.
