Abstract:

Introduction: Tooth transposition is considered as the anomaly of tooth position in two adjacent teeth, the most frequent locations include canine and first maxillary premolar. Transposition may happen along with hypodontia, supernumerary teeth, or the persistence of a deciduous predecessor. Supernumerary teeth are considered as the teeth in excess of the normal dentition. Supernumerary teeth can happen in any region of the dental arch. Nevertheless, having supernumerary tooth accompanied by transpositions in the canine area is a rare condition. The aim of this report was introducing a patient with supernumerary maxillary canine along with transposition. A 14-year-old boy without any skeletal, systemic, metabolic and mental problems was referred to the Orthodontic Department of Yazd Dental School, Yazd, Iran. In the clinical study of displacement of the upper canine in the anterior region of the upper jaw, which has led to crowding and buccal protrusion of the main canine of the upper jaw. This supernumerary canine tooth with displacement was discovered based on routine radiological examinations. Conclusion: The presence of a supernumerary tooth with transposition usually causes occlusion and functional problems in patients. In these cases, a complete clinical and radiographic examination along with a detailed history should be done in order to plan the appropriate surgical, orthodontic, and restorative treatment plan. Early detection is essential to prevent these problems.

Introduction: The problem of addiction potential experienced by young adults is usually accompanied by narcissistic personality traits. Research has confirmed two distinct forms of narcissism: grandiose and vulnerable. Meanwhile, shame as the main emotion and attachment style plays an essential role in these disorders. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of reviewing research on addiction potential and the role of narcissistic factors, shame experiences, and attachment patterns. Using the Google Scholar database, key words such as Addiction Potential, Narcissism, Shame and Attachment Style were searched. PubMed was searched for Addiction, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, shame, and Attachment Styles. All time periods were used for this review and more than two hundred documents were reviewed and extracted based on the criteria. Conclusion: The results showed that in some studies, a significant relationship was observed among potential for addiction, narcissism, shame experiences, and attachment patterns,in some other studies, potential for addiction was predictable through narcissism, shame experiences, and attachment patterns. In general, we can conclude that addiction is a big problem that is affecting many societies today, by identifying how these factors are formed in children and development paths affecting it, a big step can be taken in the direction of educating parents and communities.

Introduction: Height and head circumference is one of the criteria for physical health of preterm infants and indicates their neuromuscular development. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of multisensory stimulation on height and head circumference of preterm infants. Methods: The present study was a clinical trial study, which was performed on premature infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit at Shahid Motahari Hospital in Jahrom City, Iran, in 2016. Initially, 80 infants with a gestational age of 32 to 36 weeks were randomly divided into two groups of multisensory stimulation and control. The intervention method in this study was that the intervention group had a multisensory stimulation program (auditory stimulation, tactile stimulation, visual stimulation and vestibular stimulation) by mothers for 12 minutes per day and 5 times a week until discharge and in the control group they only received the usual care ward. The height and head circumference were measured by the researcher with a meter until the day the infant was discharged from the ward. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16. Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups of preterm infants in terms of fetal age, birth weight and sex. Based on the comparison between groups, a significant difference was observed in the two groups in terms of height and head circumference (P <0. 001). Conclusion: The findings of this study show that multisensory stimulation affects the physical development of premature infants.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and Portulaca Oleracea extract on FGF-21 levels and insulin resistance in rats with NAFLD. Methods: Twenty male Wistar rats at six weeks old and 160 to 185 g weight were randomly divided into four groups: fatty liver control, HIIT, Portulaca Oleracea extract, and HIIT+Portulaca Oleracea extract. According to the weight of the mice, Portulaca Oleracea supplement with a dose of 400 mg/kg was given to the two respective groups. The HIIT training protocol was performed for 8 weeks, 5 sessions per week, and each session was performed at 80-90% of maximum speed. Hepatic FGF21 level and insulin resistance were measured after 8 weeks of HIIT training and consumption of purslane extract. One-way analysis of variance and Tukey's post hoc test were used to compare groups at a significance level of p<0. 05. Results: Insulin resistance in HIIT (P=0. 005), Portulaca Oleracea extract (P=0. 011), and HIIT+Portulaca Oleracea extract (P=0. 002) groups were significantly lower than fatty liver control group. The level of liver FGF-21 in the HIIT (p=0. 023), Portulaca Oleracea extract (p=0. 005) and HIIT+ Portulaca Oleracea extract (p=0. 001) groups was significantly higher than the fatty liver control group. Conclusion: It seems that HIIT and Portulaca Oleracea extract could improve insulin resistance in NAFLD by increasing FGF-21 levels and can play an important role in controlling the progress of this disease.

Abstract:

Introduction: Enterococci are opportunistic bacteria that can become pathogenic if colonized. Resistance to commonly used antibiotics by Enterococci causing nosocomial infections is of concern, which necessitates judicious, responsible and evidence-based use of antibiotics. The aim of this study was to evaluate the pattern of antibiotic resistance of Enterococci isolated from patients admitted to Imam Khomeini Hospital in Ahvaz City, Iran. Methods: The data of this cross-sectional description study were collected from October to March 2019 in the Microbiology Department of Imam Khomeini Hospital, Ahvaz City, Iran. Ninety samples of patients aged 1 to 99 years with infection caused by Enterococcus faecalis and Enterococcus faecium were included. The samples included urine culture, wound swab, vaginal swab, blood culture, catheter, sputum, bronchoaspirate, cerebrospinal fluid and other cases (abscess, drainage, ascites fluid, pleural fluid, culture fluid and purulent material). The antibiotic sensitivity of the isolates was measured using the agar disk diffusion method. Results: Enterococci were collected from 53 urine samples, 10 blood samples, 1 cerebrospinal fluid sample, 1 abscess sample, 2 cornea samples, 9 wound samples and 14 other secretion samples. The resistance of enterococcus strains against ciprofloxacin, ampicillin, imipenem and nalidixic acid was 66. 7%, 42. 6%, 55. 6% and 93. 3%, respectively. The highest sensitivity of Enterococcus isolates against ampicillin (42. 6%) was observed. 43. 3% of the samples obtained were from men and 56. 7% from women. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, a significant percentage of Enterococci strains are resistant to ciprofloxacin, imipenem, and nalidixic acid. Over-the-counter and unnecessary use of available antibiotics should be avoided to prevent increased resistance to common antibiotics.

Abstract:

Introduction: Natural products can help in the treatment of many diseases due to their low side effects. In the present study the effect of pretreatment of nanobetanin and nanocurcumin in cerebral ischemia rats was investigated. Methods: The present study was experimental. 40 male Wistar rats were divided into eight groups of healthy control, healthy animals receiving nanobetanin, healthy animals receiving nanocurcumin, healthy animals receiving nanobetanin+nanocurcumin, cerebral I/R, cerebral I/R receiving nanobetanin, cerebral I/R receiving nanocurcumin and cerebral I/R receiving nanobetanin + nanocurcumin. Oral administration of nanobetanin and nanocurcumin started five days before Bilateral Common Carotid Artery Occlusion induction in rats and continued three days later. Neurological disorders scores were assessed. After preparing the brain homogenate, the intensity of oxidative stress, the activity of antioxidant enzymes and the expressions of interleukin-1β,(IL-1β, ), interleukin 6 (IL-6) and alpha tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α, ) cytokines were measured by relevant kits. Data analysis was done in GraphPad prism V. 8 software. Results: Nanobetanin and nanocurcumin showed strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) rats. The content of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the brain of I/R rats receiving nanobetanin and nanocurcumin decreased (P=0. 00001) and the activity of antioxidant enzyme such as superoxide dismutase improved (P=0. 00002), and the content of glutathione regeneration showed an increasing trend (P=0. 0004). A decrease in neurological disorders scores (P=0. 009) was observed in cerebral I/R rats receiving nanobetanin and nanocurcumin. Furthermore, nanobetanin and nanocurcumin administration reduced the expression levels of inflammatory cytokines IL-1β,(P=0. 00003), IL-6 (P=0. 00006), TNF-α,(P=0. 008) in the rats with cerebral I/R injury. Conclusion: Nanobetanin and nanocurcumin has neuroprotective effects in cerebral I/R condition due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammation properties, which can be considered as a suitable treatment option in stroke conditions.
