Abstract: 

Background: Students are a very important part of young society whose awareness affects the health of family and friends. At the same time as the COVID-19 pandemic, the present study was conducted to investigate the level of Knowledge, Preventive Behaviors and Risk Perception of students of Kashan University of Medical Sciences towards COVID-19. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2022. In total, 330 students from Kashan University of Medical Sciences were selected via random sampling method. Data collection tools were a questionnaire including 4 sections of demographic information, awareness (15 questions) and preventive behaviors (9 questions) and risk perception (2 questions). The Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for data analysis. Findings: The knowledge of students of Kashan University of Medical Sciences about the ways of transmission, origin, symptoms, incubation period, treatment, how to diagnose, the importance of using a mask and hand hygiene has been between 60 to 98% and very good. The students' preventive behaviors towards all the mentioned items were between 65 and 95% and were very good. About half of the university students had a high risk of COVID-19. Conclusion: Due to the high prevalence of this virus and the lack of absolutely effective medicine in the treatment of this disease, it is necessary to raise the level of awareness of students with appropriate training, so that we can see an increase in preventive behaviors and understanding of risk among students.

Abstract: 

Background: The aim of the present study was to determine of the effect of eight weeks of Endurance Training (ET) on amount of KIF5B protein in Soleus and Extensor Digital Longus muscle tissue in aged male Wistar race rats. Methods: Twelve aged male rats with an average age of eighteen to twenty-four months and an average weight of 407. 83 ±,21. 29 grams and 6 young rats with an average age of eight to ten weeks and an average weight of 180. 67 ±,10. 36 grams were randomly divided into 3 groups of six series (aged endurance training, aged sham exercise and young sham exercise). The aged endurance training group ran continuously on a treadmill for 15 to 60 minutes with intensity of 7. 5-15 meter/ Min, 5 days a week for eight weeks. To measure the amount of KIF5B protein, ELISA method and to test the hypotheses, one-way analysis of variance and Tukey's post hoc test were used. Findings: Following aging, the amount of KIF5B protein decreased significantly in soleus and EDL muscle. Eight weeks of ET caused a significant increase in the amount of KIF5B protein in the soleus and EDL compared to the aged sham exercise. The ratio of the weight of Soleus and EDL to body weight in the ET group had a significant increase compared to the aged sham exercise. Conclusion: Following a regular training period of ET, the amount of KIF5B protein in the soleus and EDL muscles as well as the peak running speed of aged male rats increased and reduced sarcopenia by increasing the relative weight of soleus and EDL muscles in them.

Abstract: 

Background: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the protective effect of curcumin pretreatment of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells conditioned medium on heart fibrosis in rat. Methods: Eighteen male mice were randomly divided into three groups of six,Healthy control group: (normal saline), Patient control group: (isoproterenol (ISO)), Treatment group: ISO + condition medium (CM). Blood samples were then collected. Then the femur and tibia bones were separated and used for stem cell culture. Cell secretions extracted from bone marrow cells were injected through the tail vein. In order to perform the test, the obtained heart samples were fixed in formalin 10% and histologically evaluated. Also, serum levels of LDH (lactate dehydrogenase) and CPK (creatine phosphokinase) were measured. Findings: Subcutaneous injection of ISO led to the induction of (myocardial infarction: MI) with increase in serum CPK and LDH compared to the normal control group (P < 0. 05). Intravenous injection of conditioned medium resulted in a significant decrease in serum CPK and LDH levels compared with the MI group (P < 0. 05). The mean severity of fibrosis in the CM group was significantly lower compared to the MI group, but the inflammation and edema of the heart in both groups were significantly different with normal group. Conclusion: In the present study, single-dose injection of the CM of mesenchymal stem cells treated with curcumin can attenuate adverse effects of ISO and significantly reduced cardiac fibrosis.
