The present research has been allocated to evaluate the current situation and the effectiveness of special cycling routes in the city of Tabriz. This research was done in the third week of August, the summer of 2015, for seven days (more than 6 hours per day) and 319 cyclists was considered as sample for this investigation. The research method is descriptive-analytic. To investigate the status of special cycling routes, the questionnaire designed by the researcher was used. The validity of the questionnaire was approved by several sports management professors; in addition, to examine the reliability of the Cronbach's alpha test, a 30-member sample was used. To assess the situation, descriptive statistics and frequency was utilized and to analyze the comments of cyclists, the Chi-squared test was used. The results showed that most cyclists on special routes are athlete and use bicycles for health and sports and most of them, are low income people. Also the preferred time for cycling was after 18pm. The opinion poll about the status of available special routes showed that citizens satisfied with slope and width of routes, locations and the lack of car interruptions but they had not consent about length, quality, safety and brightness of the routes. As a result, it is recommended that, In order to attract citizens to use the special routes, it is necessary to pay attention to the improvement of the quality and quantity of cycling routes.
