Abstract:

Seventeen species of three genera, Bruchophagus Ashmead, 1888; Eurytoma Illiger, 1807 and Systole Walker, 1832 (Hymenoptera: Eurytomidae) were reared from 25 plant species collected in rangelands of Qom province in Iran during 2011– 2017. Their host plants belong to 4 families: Asteracae, Apiaceae, Fabaceae and Lamiaceae. Six species, Bruchophagus desertus Zerova, 1994; B. hippocrepidis Zerova, 1969; B. parvulus Zerova, 1994; B. platypterus (Walker, 1834); Eurytoma dentate Mayr, 1878 and Systole prangicola Zerova, 1972 are first recorded from Iran. These species were obtained from 25 host plant species among which 6 (i. e. Bruchophagus desertus on Astragalus vanillae; B. parvulus on Trigonella monantha; Systole albipennis on Ferula gumosa, F. ovina and S. prangicola on Prangos acaulis, P. ferulacea seeds) are new host plants for these eurytomid species. Results of this study can be served for providing health seeds for plant regeneration in the rangelands of Iran.

Abstract:

Two invasive scale insects: Aspidiotus hedericola Leonardi (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Diaspididae) and Planococcus kraunhiae (Kuwana) (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Pseudococcidae) have been recorded for the first time in Iran. Both probably arrived by the ornamental plants without quarantine inspections. The diagnostic characters, the illustrations based on slide-mounted characters and field characters of the adult females are presented. In addition, the dichotomous keys to species of Aspidiotus Bouché and Planococcus Ferris in Iran are provided.

Abstract:

Use of pesticides as an important part of integrated pest management programs has principal role in control of tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick). Therefore, evaluating the efficacy of insecticides and introducing new effective compounds are important for management of this pest. Eggs and 2nd instar larvae of tomato leafminer are the main stages exposed to insecticide sprayings. This study was conducted to determine the susceptibility of eggs and 2nd instar larvae of T. absoluta to five insecticides. LC50 values obtained for spinosad, chlorantraniliprole, indoxacarb, abamectin, and zeta-cypermethrin for 2nd instar larvae were 0. 08, 0. 09, 10. 8, 0. 29 and 232. 2 mg ai/L respectively. The eggs were treated with LC50s of these insecticides for 2nd instar larvae to assess their ovi-larvicidal effects. Mortality of the egg/neonates in chlorantraniliprole, spinosad, indoxacarb, abamectin, zeta-cypermethrin treatments and control were 88. 8, 76. 8, 58. 1, 35, 50. 5 and 14. 6 %, respectively. The results revealed that spinosad and chlorantraniliprole had strong ovicidal and larvicidal activities; and if perform equally well in large scale greenhouse and field conditions, they may be considered in T. absoluta management programs.

Abstract:

The last checklist of Iranian Collembola (Hexapoda) including 112 species was published in 2013. After 2013, faunistic studies on Collembola were increased dramatically in Iran. During 2013-2018, 120 species from 78 genera belonging to 18 families were recorded or described. Hence, updating the list of recorded species from Iran seems necessary. Here an updated chechklist of Iranian Collembola including 232 species within 95 genera together with their geographical distributions are provided. Considering the number of species, Isotomidae and Entomobryidae are the richest families. While, most of the families belonging to the Symphypleona represented by only one species.

Abstract:

The fauna of Ichneumonidae in the upper half of Kerman province was surveyed. Six Malaise traps were installed in three localities, Anar, Shahr-e-Babak and Mahan regions during 2012. The collecting pot of each trap was emptied by an interval of two-four weeks. A total of nine species belonging to four subfamilies, Campopleginae, Cryptinae, Ichneumoninae and Tryphoninae, were identified. Cymodusa rufiventris Dbar, 1985 (Campopleginae) and Netelia (Paropheltes) maculiventris (Kokujev, 1915) (Tryphoninae) are reported for the first time from Iran. Six species are new records for Kerman province. Diagnostic morphological characters of the newly reported species are provided.

Abstract:

During 2018-2019, fauna of Phytoseioidea (Acari: Mesostigmata) mites associated with greenhouse plants were collected and identified from Rasht County, Guilan Province, north of Iran. In total, twenty-one species belonging to three families; Blattisociidae Garman (Cheiroseius curtipes, Ch. longipes, Lasioseius extremus, L. scapulatus, L. sugawarai, L. youcefi); Podocinidae Berlese (Podocinum sagax, P. pacificum) and Phytoseiidae Berlese (Amblyseius herbicolus, A. largoensis, A. mcmurtryi, A. rademacheri, A. swirskii, Euseius stipulates, Neoseiulus barkeri, N. umbraticus, Phytoseius plumifer, Transeius caspiansis, Typhlodromus athiasae, T. perbibus, T. tubifer) collected from greenhouses of Rasht city. Among them, Podocinum sagax Berlese, 1882 (Podocinidae) is considered as new record for mite fauna of Iran. Detailed morphological characteristics of both sexes of P. sagax based on specimens collected from Iran are given. Moreover, an identification key for Phytoseioidea mites associated with greenhouse plants of Rasht County is provided.

Abstract:

The specimens of both sexes of Eremiothrips tamaricis (zur Strassen) were collected on tamarisk from Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, south west of Iran. The male of the species is described and illustrated for the first time. It is unique among species of the genus in having transverse pore plates on abdominal sternites III and IV and the presence of small paired postero-marginal processes on tergite IX. The variation in number of posteromarginal setae on the pronotum, as well as host association for this species is briefly discussed.

Abstract:

The genus Anurophorus Nicolet, 1842 belongs to the subfamily of Anurophorinae (690 species) (Bellinger et al., 1996– 2019). The members of Anurophorinae were recognized by characters such as: lacking or reduced furca, few sensilla on the body and few anterior manubrial setae. Anurophorus species are xerophilic and mostly occurring on different microhabitats including mosses and lichens on tree trunks and rocks in forests and also in dry coniferous litter (Potapov, 2001). Members of this genus are easily distinguished by their medium size, usually dark color and the absence of furca and spines. They often occur in abundance in field and move slowly (Fjellberg, 2007)...

Abstract:

Miltogramminae are common dwellers of arid regions of northern hemisphere including Iran whose estimated fauna is thought to significantly exceed its existing 39 members and virtually reach about 100 species (Szpila, pers. comm. ). The world catalogue of Sarcophagidae has included 33 species of Iranian Miltogramminae (Pape, 1996) and the recent molecular reconstruction of phylogeny of the subfamily added further four species to its Iranian fauna (Piwczyń ski et al., 2017: Supplementary Table A. 1). Szpila et al. (2017) described the larvae of two unidentified miltogrammine species within the genera Sphecapatodes Villeneuve and Sphecapatoclea Villeneuve, based on the specimens from the North Khorasan province of Iran...
