Gé rard Genette’ s theory is a considerably effective narratological theory used by numerous researchers today so as to uncover the narrative patterns of significant writers and offer a better introduction for them by examining their narrative structures. . . .

Introduction Aside from style and imagination, literature constitutes two other important elements, i. e. thought and sense; the former relates to philosophy while the latter is relevant to psychology. It means that the nature of literature is philosophical and the gist of its influence is a psychological matter. Accordingly, psychological examination of literature is based on psychological theories, particularly that of Adler’ s approach; and Adler deems the sense of humiliation as effective in the formation of arts and literature which is relatively overlooked by analysts and it is of substantial importance. 1 Introduction The most wonderful part about beautifying poetry is that the poet is able to conceal another meaning inside the layers of speech based on his creative power. The use of terms in this case gives the word a temporary meaning for understanding the meaning. This is exactly the use of metaphor which gives poetry a more imaginative design. 1 Introduction Laughter is a human phenomenon, the nature and of which and the difficulty in discovering the causes behind it has been the focus of both philosophers and psychologists such as Henry Bergson and Freud since long ago. There are several exploratory theories formulated around this phenomenon including the liberation theory, the superiority theory, heterogeneity, etc., with the purpose of identifying the cause behind laughter. Aside from pondering about such causes, literary satirist has managed to use this capacity to humorously express their thoughts. Badi' al-Zaman al-Hamadani is a literary figure and prose writer from the Abbasid era who managed to make use of humorous capacities in expressing the shortcomings of his time’ s society and people in his “ Maqamat” (esp. in Maqamah Isfahaniyah).
