Background and Objective: Paying attention to the quality of academic activities has always been one of the major challenges for universities. In this study, the factors explaining the quality of scientific functions based on the Glassic six-component approach are investigated. Method: The Mixed method was used in this research with qualitative-quantitative approach with deductive content analysis. In the qualitative section, using in-depth and semi-structured interview tools, 20 experts in the field of medical sciences, humanities, basic sciences and engineering were interviewed and until saturation continued. The data were analyzed using content analysis based on Glassic six-component model. The face and content validity of the questionnaire were evaluated by five expertschr('39') view point. 300 faculty members from two universities of Shiraz University, and Shiraz University of Medical Sciences were administered and 265 questionnaires were returned. The reliability of questionnaire was confirmed by Cronbachchr('39')s alpha 96%. The Exploratory and Confirmatory factor analysis were analyzed by Spss 22 and LISREL. Results: in content analysis, 153 codes were extracted. they were summarized and categorizing into 6 main categories, 13 middle components and 29 items. based on factor analyzing, The main factor in explaining quality was chr('39')Knowledge Sharingchr('39') items. Conclusion: It seems that formal mechanisms such as legal frameworks, regulations, evaluation and promotion system, external incentives are needed as the first requirements for the development of scientific functions, but the reliability of quality criteria are effected by hidden factors such as trust, interaction and Commitment.
