Abstract:

The purpose of this study was the standardization of the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28) for the students of Shiraz University based on their to sex, academic year and native/non-native trait. The participants were 1146 students of Shiraz University. The results showed that the male students compare to females also non native students compared to the native ones had better general health. However, there was no significant difference between the students studying different academic years also between the graduate and under-graduate students. The schedules of normalization for students are presented according to their academic year, sex and college.

Abstract:

To examine reliability and validity of "Interpersonal Problems, Inventory", 271 students from Tehran University in three sample groups of 86 (52 females, 34 males), 125 (77 females, 48 males), and 60 (30 females, 30 males) were selected for this study. All participants were asked to complete this Inventory (IIP), the Mental Health Inventory (MHI), and the Self-Esteem Inventory (SEI). Test-retest reliability and internal consistency of the IIP were examined at satisfactory levels. In addition, the concurrent validity of the IIP was calculated using correlation coefficients between the scores on IIP and scores obtaind from MHI and SEI. All correlations were statistically significant.

Abstract:

This paper presents the results of a preliminary study of the validity and reliability of the State and Trait Anger expression Inventory (STAXI-2) amongst a sample of university students. Including 57 items, STAXI-2 measures 6 scales and 5 subscales related to Anger. In the present study, 570 university students (465 females and 105 males) completed both STAXI-2 and the Ahwaz aggression inventory (AAI). Furthermore, the STAXI-2 was re-administered to a sub sample of 50 males and females of the original respondents three weeks after the first assessment. Significant correlations were found between AAI subscales and the scales and subscales of STAXI-2 in the proposed directions. The results revealed that the scales and subscales of STAXI-2 are reliable, in terms of internal consistency and intraclass correlations. These results provide preliminary confirmation of validity and reliability of to examine STAXI-2 amongst university students. Further studies are highly recommended the sensitivity of STAXI-2 to anger changes as a result of treatment.

Abstract:

The present research aims to study reliability, validity and manner of Zuckerman sensation-seeking scale (SSS) particularly with changes of culture among the students of technical universities in Tehran, Therefore, 668 students (332 females and 336 males were randomly selected from five technical and engineering universities (Tehran University) Sharif University of Technology, Khajeh Nasir University, Amirkabir Technical University and, University of Technology) during the course of this research. The findings indicated that Zuckerman sensation-seeking scale can be employed as a simple and reliable scale in order to measure sensation. Furthermore, Zuckerman sensation-seeking scale was highly valided and reliable. The results obtained from analysis showed this scale consists of six factors i.e. sensation-seeking, experience-seeking, adventurism, annoyance-acceptance, variety-seeking and avoidance from deterrence. Moreover, there was no significant difference between male and female sensation-seeking. Whereas, the rate of sensation-seeking decreases with the increase in age. In order to explain that the result of this sensation-seeking culture based test is a standard collection which is consistent from one test to another and from one level to another, the crude numbers were changed into standard numbers. To do so, the percentage calculation norm was changed into T-number after one linear transformation.

Abstract:

This research is intended to consider the Psychometric characteristics of Feeling Security Scale (TFSS) in Tehran. 3103 Tehrani citizens filled in this form. The Scale validity was checked for its content Validity (referees contingency coefficient) and construct validity (Factor analysis). The results of referee’s contingency coefficient showed that all the obtained coefficients were above 92% which were acceptable and satisfying. From the results of factors analysis for construct validity, five Factors were extracted. The factors were named after the theoretical basis and the contents of the questions such as life security, chastity security, individual economical security, public economical security and social security. The reliability of the scale was estimated through internal consistency using Cronbach Alpha coefficient. The least reliability was observed for the public economical security (a=0.87) and the most was calculated for reliability social security (a=0.97). finally, the criteria was based on T scores and the profile of the test for comparing different feelings of security. On the whole, the coefficients obtained from validity and reliability of TFSS were desirable at the level of P<0.001. The results of TFSS indicated, highly reliable for being used in the recognition of feeling security in Tehran.

Abstract:

The Behavioral Inhibition System (BIS) and Behavioral Activation System (BAS) Scales (BIS/BASS) were developed by Carver and White (1) as self-report measures derived from the two behavioral systems in Gray's theory (2,3). The purpose of the present study was to examine carry out Carver and White’s model with Shiraz university students. In order to this research, exploratory factor structure of the BIS/BASS was used. These scales were administrated to a sample of 188 students of Shiraz University. The reliability coefficient was estimated by two methods: test retest and Cronbach's alpha, which were both acceptable. Factor analysis was showed for 4 factors labeled as: Inhibition (BIS), Drive (BASD), Reward (BASR) and Fun seeking (BASF) which covered 47.98 percent of the total variance. The validity of these scales was investigated in two different ways: convergent validity and divergent validity. These validity indices were measured by two subscales of depression and anxiety from SCL-90-R. The correlation coefficient of subscale of BIS for depression was 0.22 while BIS for anxiety was 0.31. Thus, Carver and White’s model was normalized with the Iranians.

Abstract:

The present research was conducted to study the psychometric characteristics of:"Meeker's memory Subscales".The sample consisted of 292 male and female students.Memory category has six subscales based on widely recognized, multifactoral model of intelligence developed by Guilford (1959). The results indicated that for Meeker's memory subscales, internal consistency coefficients ranged from 0.67 to 0.77 and the total internal consistency coefficient of test was 0.77. The split half coefficient of test ranged from 0.65 to 0.75 and the total split-half coefficient was 0.68. Moreover, test- retest coefficients of the test ranged 0.80 to 0.99. To evaluate the test validity, concurrent and constructive validity were examined, there was a significant correlation between memory subscales and teacher ratings (P<0.001). Furthermore, to increase memory abilities some strategies were presented based on the research findings.
