Abstract:

Background: Pressure ulcers are among the most serious skin and tissue disorders and put a heavy financial burden on healthcare systems. These ulcers break through the body’ s first line of defense and can lead to severe consequences such as septicemia and death. Nowadays, most conventional treatments are very costly; therefore, the production of less expensive medications including herbal remedies is crucial. This study aimed to determine the healing effect of Dr Kamkar's herbal cream in one to third stage Pressure Ulcer. Methods: This single-blind randomized clinical trial was conducted on 65 patients aged 40-80 years with stage1-3 Pressure ulcers at Imam Ali Hospital in Karaj. The control group was treated with zinc oxide cream, while the intervention group was treated with Dr Kamkar ’ s herbal cream. Ulcers were measured according to the Pressure Ulcer Scale (PUSH) at the beginning of hospitalization and weekly for 8 weeks and the PUSH scores in the two groups were compered. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS version 23. Results: The results showed that in the intervention group the slop of decline in the PUSH score was greater in comparison to the control group. Regarding the area of the lesions, exudation and tissue regeneration, the levels of improvement in the intervention and control groups were 85% and 18%, respectively. Conclusion: According to our data, a significant difference in the mean scores of the pressure ulcer was observed between the two groups (P ≤ 0. 0001). It can be concluded that Dr Kamkar ' s healing cream is effective in the treatment of stage one to third pressure ulcers.

Abstract:

Background: The most important researches in molecular and genetic engineering fields are the finding of optimal methods for extraction of the genomic content of microorganisms and cells using them, can achieve the most amount and purity with the least time and cost. There are several methods for the extraction of bacterial DNA and the use of magnetic nanoparticles is one of the novel methods of nucleic acid isolation. The aim of this study  is to compare DNA extracted from Escherichia coli using two techniques including phenol-chloroform and magnetic nanoparticles. Methods: In this study, Escherichia coli strain ATCC25922 was used to compare the two extraction methods. For genomic DNA extraction  the phenol-chloroform methods as well as the technique of using bilayer SiO2/Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were used. Both products were analyzed by nanodrop and following agarose gel electrophoresis. Results: The results of optical density (OD) evaluation with nanodrop spectrophotometer showed that the concentration of extracted DNA with conventional phenol-chloroform method and magnetic nanoparticle extraction technique were 761. 4 µ g/ml and 531 µ g/ml respectively. Conclusion: According to the obtained results by comparing the optical absorption of the two products and comparative evaluation with control groups in magnetic nanoparticle extraction method, also by comparing different factors such as the amount of time required, costs, ease of use, it can be concluded that due to the time-consuming and dangerous nature of the phenol-chloroform method, the using magnetic nanoparticles is an appropriated method for extracting the genomic content.

Abstract:

Background: MiRNAs are one of the most important genetic regulators that regulate more than 50 percent of the human genome. MiR-124-a-3 is a tumor suppressor miRNA which its expression dramatically reduced in prostate cancer tumor cells. Since miRNA binding to the transcript of target genes by seed sequence, any mutations and changes in this region could be effective on its performance and identify target genes. Methods: Case-control study, used for assessment of association rs3405976 polymorphism in miR-124-a-3 gene with prostate cancer occurrence in 40 paraffin embedded tissue cancer samples and 5 ml control blood samples. After DNA extraction, the polymorphism determined with PCR-RFLP technique. Results: The GG genotype distribution in rs34059726 position of miR-124-a-3 gene showed in all patients and normal individuals. Blood group A with 42. 2% have the most frequency in malignant patients and also, frequency of addicted patients reported 15% in malignant and 5% in benign patients. Conclusion: rs34059726 polymorphism in miR-124-a-3 does not have associated with incidence of prostate cancer in the Gonbad kavous population and possibly other mechanisms are involved in decreased expression of miR-124-a-3 in prostate cancer in this population. In this population, addiction is a risk factor for prostate cancer and patients frequently have blood group A.

Abstract:

Human Herpes Viruses (HSV) contain eight pathogens. HSV is one of the most widespread viruses in the world and due to the simplicity of the way of transmission the number of people infected with the virus has increased in per year. The virus creates a wide range of diseases, including mucosal herpes infections and deadly herpes simplex encephalitis. Today, for the diagnosis of HSV infection several classic methods such as Morphological, Immunomorphologic, Virological and Serological methods, including Microscopic examination, Virus Culture, Western Blot and ELISA are used. But the speed, sensitivity and specificity of nucleic acid techniques (Molecular Technique) such as simple and modified PCR technique and Loop Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) have led them to become an attractive tool for diagnostic laboratories, and in particular the rapid identification of viral disease agents. In this review article, various methods for detecting herpes viruses were examined and compared.
