The present study emphasizing relational element, examines social
isolation and its causes and consequences. This is a survey research
through which 734 citizens of Tehran and Kerman between ages of 20
to 70 have been interviewed. The sample sizes are respectively 530 and
204. Hierarchical linear modeling has been used for data analysis. The
findings indicate that variables of Socioeconomic development level of
the region, and residential stability at structural level, and trust,
security, multiplicity of knots and identities, at individual level, exert
significant effects on social relations. Moreover, the level of social
relations, in turn, carries influential and significant effects on the
feeling of loneliness and of helplessness.
