Abstract

A sample of 440 students in Mashhad Islamic Azad University completed the BASIC RELIGIOUS BELIEFS Questionnaire (Rajaee et al., 2008), IDENTITY CRISIS Questionnaire (Rajaee et al., 2008), and the GENERAL HEALTH Questionnaire (Goldberg, 1972). The results showed the persons with high scores on BASIC RELIGIOUS BELIEFS had low scores in IDENTITY CRISIS and more GENERAL HEALTH. A significant negative correlation was found between the IDENTITY CRISIS and GENERAL HEALTH. Multiple regression analysis showed that BASIC RELIGIOUS BELIEFS explained variance of IDENTITY CRISIS (R2=0.094) and GENERAL HEALTH (R2=0.023) among young adults. The results were discussed based on cognitive and emotional theories.
