Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the PRINCIPAL FACTORS for developing an “Electronic Resource Management POLICY” for central libraries of Iranian universities. In this survey, a questionnaire was distributed among 112 managers of central libraries of State universities. Results show 9 necessary factors for Electronic Resource Management POLICY for the CENTRAL LIBRARY of UNIVERSITIES OF IRAN. These factors are: Access Issues; Technical Issues; User needs assessment; Mission, objectives and Financial Issues; Implementation & Review of POLICY; Digitization Issues, Selecting Criteria for Electronic Resources; Introduction & Definitions; and Human Resources. An important result of this study is an objective model of interactions (intercorrelation) among these 9 factors. It is proposed that librarians take notice of these relations when writing policies.
