Abstract

Place as a concept has gained much attention from fields Such as sociology, anthropology, and human geography. Studies concerning Place began with making distinction between Place and Space. Sociologists and human geographers believe that Space has consisted of material, human-made and natural world and becomes Place by the meaning people, groups or cultural process create. However, different models have been offered for Place. On the other hand, Place has also been investigated in the field of library and information science. In addition to studying the users' satisfaction of libraries, some studies emphasized the role of a library as a physical, cultural, political and social place, This Paper attempts to review different patterns introduced for place in different domains. Special attention is paid to the CONCEPT OF PLACE in the field of library and information Science.
