Abstract

In the 19century, the collision between Iranian traditional society and west civilization & MODERNITY was led to question of what must do. TALEBOF Tabrizi's answer to this question was contingent acceptance of MODERNITY. He accepts important elements of MODERNITY & modern IDENTITY: rationalism, rule of law, national sovereignty, crtiticability and partly secularism. But contrary of Akhondzadeh & Aghakhan kermani, he hasn't hostility with religion. He is as a democrat not a liberal, stressed on indigenization of MODERNITY based on: keeping of cultural IDENTITY, using of human reason and the update religion for law-making and ethic purification and using of informing dimension of MODERNITY for changing & reformation of traditional IDENTITY, consolidation of national IDENTITY and full rejection of despotism & exploitation. In this research the author tries to explain the relation between national, traditional, cultural and religious dimensions of IDENTITY and MODERNITY & modern IDENTITY in the political thoughts of TALEBOF.
