Abstract

Of, 36 indigenous and exotic nurseries in Mehregan station and Gharb paper industries in Kermanshah province, 18 clones of POPLARs, demonstrating highest height and DIAMETER as well as resistance to pests and diseases, were selected for further adaptability programs. Eight clones of populus nigra L. (with closed crown) by 3x3 meters spacing and 10 clones of exotic hybrids (open crown) by 4x4 meters spacing were studied in a randomized complete block design with three replications (25 seedlings for each replication). Variables measured include: height (m), DIAMETER at breast height (cm), and volume calculation (m3).The results for a 7 year period evaluation indicated P. eura. 455 and P. eura. 1-214 as the highest yield/ hectare/year clones for 4x4spacing and P.n. 62.171 and P.n. 63.135 for 3x3 spacing.
