Abstract

Background and Objectives: Thicknesses of Ariadent and Harvard Zinc Phosphate (ZP) cements have been measured and compared by an optical set up using OPTICAL INTERFERENCE pattern method and a HE-NE LASER of 632.8 nm wavelength.Materials and Methods: Ten experimental samples of Ariadent and Harvard Zinc Phosphate (ZP) cements were palced between two glass lamella, harded by 150 N forces, and irradiated by HE-NE LASER.Results: It is found that the thickness of Ariadent cement is 35.5 microns when a force of 150 N was exerted on it during the preparation stage. This thickness is about 8.5 microns greater than that of Ariadent with the same material and exerting force.Conclusions: Our study showed that thickness of HARVARD CEMENT was greater than thickness of Ariadent cement.
