ASSESSMENT EFFECT OF STRUCTURE AND TEXTURE CHARACTERISTICS OF ROCK UNITS IN ALVAND PLUTON ON THE OUTCROP RESISTANCE AGAINST DESTRUCTION AND WEATHERING

Abstract

 The ALVAND PLUTONic mass is one of the largest plutonic bodies in the Sanandaj – Sirjan metamorphic belt. This paper evaluates outcrop RELATIVE RESISTANCE of rock units against DESTRUCTION AND WEATHERING based on intact rock TEXTURE AND STRUCTURE properties with using THE NUMERICAL VALUE. For this purpose at first the some properties of TEXTURE AND STRUCTURE as the criteria were chosen and indexed. Then RELATIVE RESISTANCE outcrop of rock unites based on numerical value from 1 to 10 was assessed, and the zoning map was provided. Accordingly Pegmatitic granite has minimum resistence with 3.75 and Olivine gabbro has maximum reasistence with 5.75. Weighted average degree of ALVAND PLUTON was specified 5.1 which reflects the moderate resistance degree outcrops against DESTRUCTION AND WEATHERING in terms of structure and texture characteristics between internal igneous rocks.
