Pages

  199-229

Abstract

Background and purpose: The presence of women in society has increased the need to pay attention to their security. Women's peddling in the subway is on the rise. The research was conducted with the aim of investigating the social security of women street vendors in the metro of Tehran and the social factors affecting it.Method: The research was conducted using a survey method. The statistical population was female sellers in the subway of Tehran. 200 women were selected and data were collected through a questionnaire. Data analysis was done with spss and single range t test, Pearson correlation coefficient, f test and multivariate regression.Findings: Women's feeling of social security was lower than the average of the society. There was a significant direct relationship between social trust, work experience, economic status, age, marital status, education and working hours with the sense of safety of women metro vendors. There was an inverse significant relationship between social awareness and having an unpleasant experience with women peddlers' sense of security. Multivariable regression revealed that unpleasant experience, social trust, social awareness, economic status, history of selling in the subway and women's education explained 33% of their feeling of social security. Conclusion: Due to low social security and unpleasant work experiences, women continue their activities due to unfavorable economic situation, financial need, women's space, job flexibility and lack of special skills, small capital and adequate income. Data and their number is increasing day by day.
