Abstract

Although improvements in the marine industry have resulted in technological advances; but, the destructive effects of these developments on the nature cannot be denied. The growing number of large commercial vessels has caused the increased noise in the sea and has some negative consequences for the environment. The main causes of noise pollution at sea include propeller noise or cavitation, the noise of machinery, and the noise caused by the ship’s movement through the water. There are several methods for noise reduction, such as (1) revising national and international requirements in sensitive and particularly sensitive sea areas; (2) reforming propeller design to reduce the noise and increase the efficiency of population systems.
