Abstract

Abu Ja' far MUHAMMAD B. ISA B. OBAYD b. Yaqtin is one of the companions and narrators of Imam Reza, Imam Hadi, Imam Javad and Imam Hassan Al-askari (PBUT). His authenticity is of great debate between the experts on narrators (Rijalis) Analyzing different points of view, it is concluded that all the exigencies for confirming him as authentic are available such as Fazl ibn Shazan’s narration and his confirmation by NAJASHI and Imami scholars. The only exception considered as an obstacle to his confirmation, is TUSI’s assertion of his been weak.A judgment that has no evidence in support unless Saduq and IBN VALID’s exculsions of his narrations which is not a general rule and is actually restricted to his narrations of Yunos b. Abdulrahman or that of Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Yahya from him through broken chain. Therefore, the narrations on the authority of MUHAMMAD B. ISA B. OBAYD cannot be considered as weak, not having the two mentioned features, simply due to Sadugh and IBN VALID’s judgment which cannot be considered as contradictory to the authenticity of Muhammad b. isa. Therefore, according to the evidence, it can be concluded that MUHAMMAD B. ISA B. OBAYD b. Yaqtin is authentic.
