Abstract

Variant Literary opinions leads to different perceptions of the divine verses and at times, is considered as an evidence for accepting or reinforcing a particular interpretation. Therefore, at times of alternative literal opinions on one verse, it is of great importance to take into consideration the consistency of the chosen view with the corresponding literal opinions.The chosen verse discussed in this paper is among the POLEMIC VERSES referred to by the Shiites and therefore open to different interpretations due to the Muslims’ conflict on the issue of succession of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and subject to variant literal analysis.Examining the classic and contemporary exegeses, this article has inspected the literal opinions on the aforementioned verse and its weight in variant exegetical views. providing a relevant literary analysis consistent with the literal meaning of the verse and the valuable teachings of Quran and traditions, which shows that this verse can be considered as those introducing the Holy Prophet’s successor by mentioning his divine unique characteristics.
