Abstract

Badr Sakier as-Sayyab was one of the great figures in the MODERN ARABIC POETRY and a basis for the BLANK VERSE. He was fond of utilizing symbols from different environments and religions, and the holy Quran was the most important resources he drew such symbols from, particularly those stories relating the prophets and other characters. Sayyab used these symbols as a ladder conveying many critical meanings and rich imaginations to people, and as a picture showing a part of his life and opinions, and as a mirror reflecting the changing circumstances of social, political and intellectual life in IRAQ and Arabic World, and as a bridge connecting the modern society to the past.
