Abstract

The historical background of the ESTABLISHMENT of SHIISM in Iran is a subject of research. The present article deals with this subject in the ISLAMic Republic of Iran. With the fall of Shah in 1357 SH and ESTABLISHMENT of ISLAMic regime, which necessitated the compilation of the new CONSTITUTIONAL LAW for the alternative political system, the discussion on the ESTABLISHMENT of SHIISM became quite controversial. Unlike the ESTABLISHMENT of Ja'fari SHIISM in the CONSTITUTIONAL LAW of Royal Constitutionalism, some of the Sunnite scholars and political parties in cities with Sunnite population wanted the elimination of Shiims as the official RELIGION in the new CONSTITUTIONAL LAW, and adduced evidences for their request. The Shiite scholars, personages and political parties began to reject the Sunnite arguments and request the ESTABLISHMENT of Twelver SHIISM and its continuation up to the appearance of Imam Mahdi as well as the participation of Shiites in offices of presidency and ministry. In this article, first, we present a historical review of this issue, and then we analyze the reasons of both Shiites and SUNNITES adducing their writings and speeches. In this way, one of the most important subjects and events in the contemporary history of SHIISM in Iran has been analyzed.
