Title

COMPARISON OF VISUAL AND VERBAL MEMORIES IN CHILDREN WITH ADHD AND NORMAL CHILDREN

Abstract

 The purpose of present study was to compare the WORKING MEMORY in ADHD (predominantly inattention, predominantly hyperactive/impulsive) and normal children. For this reason, 13 subjects with predominantly inattention, 15 subjects with predominantly hyperactive/impulsive, and 14 normal primary school children were selected after clinical psychologist diagnosis, and in the base of teacher form of child screen inventory (CSI-4), then four subscales from Wechsler memory scale were administered. Results revealed that normal group obtained higher scores than predominantly inattention and predominantly hyperactive/impulsive groups in three Wechsler memory subscales (mental control, logic memory and association memory), but in numeric memory there was significant difference between control and hyperactive/ impulsive group and not inattention group. Also this study showed there isn’t significant difference between ADHD's subtypes in any subscales of Wechsler memory scales.
