ACTIVE TECTONICS IN EGHLID AREA, APPLICATION OF DIGITAL TERRAIN MODEL IN MORPHOTECTONICS

Abstract

 In order to analyze tectonic activity of the Eghlid area (between the northeast of the Abadeh Fault and southwest of the Zagros Main Fault) by use of DIGITAL TERRAIN MODEL data and MORPHOTECTONIC examinations, range-front sinuosity index and valley's geomorphic ratios were determined. According to the range-front sinuosity index results, the most parts show active and semi ACTIVE TECTONICS. In the manner that the northeast of the Abadeh Fault as the part with lowest tectonic activity and the northeast of the Zagros Main Fault as the part with the highest tectonic activity can be considered and the tectonic activity is moderate in the southwest of the Zagros Main Fault. The valley's geomorphic ratios show ACTIVE TECTONICS in this area too. According to these ratios, minimum tectonic activity for Abadeh Fault zone, maximum tectonic activity for the EGHLID FAULT zone and moderate tectonic activity for the Main Zagros Fault zone can be recognized.
