Title

ESTIMATION AND INTERPOLATION OF POROSITY AND PERMEABILITY IN OIL RESERVOIRS USING GEOSTATISTICAL METHODS

Pages

  107-120

Abstract

It is of particular importance to characterize the POROSITY and PERMEABILITY distribution in heterogeneous reservoirs in dynamic reservoir simulation and predicting major production scenarios. In this research, POROSITY and PERMEABILITY distribution in the reservoir were determined using KRIGING method based on the data obtained from three wells in one of the Iranian oil fields. The study is divided into two parts namely, geostatistical estimations and mathematical simulation. The first was done using Mat lab to carry out basic calculations on the petrophysical properties from the boreholes. Then, POROSITY and PERMEABILITY distribution of the region were estimated: they were calculated on the average as 10.51% and 165 MD, respectively. After adding uncertainty to the data obtained from KRIGING method, the RRA method was also used and the results were extracted graphically. The results were compared to well head experiments and mud washout diagrams. It is indicated that the well-head method has been used with good accuracy and can be applied along with computational methods and other related studies to determine reservoir characteristics and predict reservoir behavior during production.
