Title

STUDY OF ALTERATION AND INVESTIGATING GENETIC RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN GOLD AND OTHER ELEMENTS IN VOLCANICS OF KHUNI AREA, NORTHEAST OF ANARAK

Pages

  95-106

Abstract

KHUNI AREA is located in between 54o13’-54o23’ longitude and between 23o27’ to 23o37’ Northern latitude. Intrusion of igneous bodies and ascending of later silica rich fluids may cause the occurrence of different ALTERATIONs in host rocks. Field observations, petrographic studies and XRD examinations confirm the development of argillic ALTERATION and formation of listwaenite, talk, serpentine and alunite in the studied area. An important point about these ALTERATIONs that in spite of various types of existing dikes, adjacent to vein mineralization, similar ALTERATION occurred on this can be related to same mineralizing fluid. Based on geological studies and ore microscopic and geochemical investigations there are two major mineralization occurrences in this area: (1) the Kazemi occurrence in the western part of Kuh-e Khuni, and (2) the Cheshmeh Khuni occurrence in the eastern part of Kuh-e Khuni and mineralized zones in the northern part of Kuh-e Khuni. The Kazemi occurrence is composed of base metal sulfides formed under low temperature conditions, whereas the Cheshmeh Khuni occurrence and the mineralized zones in the northern part of Kuh-e Khuni are composed of oxides with low concentration of base metals. Lithochemical analysis of collected samples from veins and ALTERATION zones in KHUNI AREA, indicates that gold mineralization have a volcanic host. Correlation between lithochemical data in volcanics in the eastern of studied area indicate that grade of none of the elements in the mineralized veins of KHUNI AREA is economic except for gold, But meaningful variation in gold, in other words harmonic ascend and descend in grades of some elements in comparison to the variation in gold grades can represent genetic relationship between them.
