Abstract

 Background and Objective: Having CHILDREN with DEAF AND HEARING IMPAIRMENT cause many problems and stress for their families especially mothers. The study aimed to make a Comparison in psychological well-being, acceptance and social adjustment of mothers with normal CHILDREN in hearing and mothers with DEAF AND HEARING IMPAIRMENT CHILDREN in the city Yasouj in 1393.Methods: This study was a descriptive –correlational research. The statistical population of this study comprized of mothers with DEAF AND HEARING IMPAIRMENT CHILDREN in Yasuj rehabilation centers. The stathstical sample of the study was 40 mothers with Deaf CHILDREN and hearing impairment who were selected using convenient sampling method and 40 other mothers with normal healthy CHILDREN who were selected with random sampling method and matching with the conterpart in aspects of age; educational level and socio-economic status. The applied instruments were questionnaire of PSYCHOLOGICAL WELLBEING, the questionnaire of social adaption and SOCIAL ACCEPTANCE. Descriptive and inferential data analysis were conducted using SPSS ver 21 (Mean; SD) and multivariate analysis of variance.Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference between groups (p<0.001).The results of univariate tests showed that the observed differences in multivariate analysis were related to the variables of PSYCHOLOGICAL WELLBEING and social adaption (p<0.001) and there was no difference in the variable of SOCIAL ACCEPTANCE between two groups (p>0.001).Conclusion: It seems that psychological well-being and social adjustment of mothers with DEAF AND HEARING IMPAIRMENT CHILDREN are lower than mothers of normal CHILDREN and thus it is imperative that these important rehabilative constructs be fortified in these mothers.
