Abstract

After the fall of Muhammad Ibn Takesh Khwarazm Shah, JALAL AL-DIN Menkoberni, Khwarazm Shah son, seriously resisted against MONGOLS. He went to Ghazni, in Afghanistan, fought successfully with Chingiz Khan, but finally was defeated and fled to the SIND coast. He founded a short- lived empire in SIND and PANJAB. His escape was followed by the first attack of MONGOLS to India. Staying for two years in India, he came back to India in the hope of refounding his empire in Iran. After passing a hard decade in war with Iraq and Caucasus in 628AH/1231, he was killed by MONGOLS in Kurdistan while he was escaping.This article aims at giving a detailed account of the events of 618-21AH/1221-24 in Northwest India. Comparing three historical sources (Tabaghat-e Nasseri, Sirat-e JALAL AL-DIN Menkoberni, and Jahangosha, the author explores the history of this period.
