Abstract

Background and Objectives: Identification of the elderly at risk of FALLs in clinical environments, is performed by Johns Hopkins FALL RISK ASSESSMENT Tool (JHFRAT). The purpose of this study was to assess the VALIDITY and internal RELIABILITY of Persian version of JHFRAT.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, translation-back translation method was used to assess VALIDITY and RELIABILITY of the tool. Elderly individuals (n=70) were evaluated for risk of FALLs on admission.Results: In this research, the mean age of the elderly individuals, was 72.71±8.1. Of these subjects, 29 were male and 41 were female. History of FALLs was reported approximately 50% in these elderly subjects. Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the tool items was calculated separately. The items had appropriate and positive correlation. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the Persian version of the tool was 0.73.Conclusion: The results indicated that the Persian version of the JHFRAT has appropriate VALIDITY and RELIABILITY for use in research studies and Iranian elderly population. Therefore, It is recommended that in future studies, other factors affecting the prediction of FALLs among the elderly population, be investigated.
