Abstract

One of the key factors in sustainable development of the developed societies is utilization of human resources. Women constitute 50 per cent of the active population of any given society. And their rate of participation is considered to be a significant factor in development. Despite the emphasis of the Iranian Constitutional Law on the participation of people in determining their fate, nondiscrimination between men and women, and despite women's burning desire for active participation in policymaking of the country, their presence in managerial position (both at micro and macro levels) is marginal. Women do not enjoy the same employment or advancement opportunities as men. This phenomenon which is regarded as "MIRROR CEILING" is deeply rooted in many social, psychological, cultural, and political factors. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the psychological factors of self-image. Our research shows that the more the level of self-image improves among women, the less overwhelming the "MIRROR CEILING" will be.
