Title

THE INVESTIGATION OF THE VALIDITY OF INTELLECTUAL CYCLES OF BIORHYTHM THROUGH COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS

Pages

  38-50

Abstract

This study investigated the validity of the intellectual cycles introduced in the popular BIORHYTHM theory. For this purpose, a sample of 63 subjects were randomly selected and assigned to two experimental groups: 1 and 2. First, peak and off-peak days of the intellectual cycle were specified for the experimental group 1, and critical days of the intellectual cycle for experimental group 2. Then, members of these two groups were studied through repeated measurement design on the specified days from the perspective of cognitive functions. Each group was tested in two stage with Cattell intelligence test (the second scale of the forms A and B), the words association sub-scale of Wechsler Memory Scale (forms A and B), and Toulouse-Pieron speed and accuracy test (the first time), and Bonnardel test (the second time). The data were analyzed by mixed variance analysis: there was a between-group factor (the two experimental groups I and 2) and a within group factor (the administration of tests in two steps). The results showed that the cognitive function does not follow the 33-days intellectual cycle put forward by the popular BIORHYTHM theory. In other words, there was no evidence of the presence of these cycles in this experiment.
