Abstract

To study the effect of WATCHING ACTION MOVIEs on IMMUNE SYSTEM, variations on concentration of secretory immunoglobulin A in saliva samples were studied. To do this, twenty two female undergraduate psychology and education students of Tehran and Alzahra University were randomly selected. Prior to the start of the experiment, all participants were observed by a physician and a physical health specialist. After obtaining their approval, participants were divided randomly in two of 11 experimental and control groups. An action movie was shown to the experimental group and a family movie was shown to control group. Base on repeated measurement design before and after watching movies the participant's saliva samples were collected in 5 minutes in same situation. Saliva samples were analyzed by Elisa analyzer and results were analyzed by analysis of covariance. The results showed that there was a significant increase in the concentration of slgA after watching action film in experimental group. Also this increase in concentration of slgA after watching action film in comparison with concentration of slgA before and after watching family film in control group was significant. We can conclude that watching action film can have an impact on concentration of slgA in students. Consistent with the findings of other studies, watching action films like watching horror and aggressive films and acute stresscan increase the amount of the concentration of slgA.
