Abstract

A large number of Afghani women are living in Kerman. The present research, with an emphasis on these women and their problems, has noticed their capabilities in the production of handicrafts. In this research, applying a survey and case study method, researchers had documented status of these migrants. In addition, based on a participatory practical method, researchers hold educational sessions to increase their ability. By studying Longwe (1991) and Kaber (2003) theory of power, indices of Empowerment were determined. Various indicators have been used to measure women's ability. The findings suggest that home-based businesses helped Afghan women Empowerment, but had no effect on improving their quality of life and their family health status. The results of the training sessions held in Moshtagh Child Friendly Center of Kerman show the useful role of informal education and non-governmental organizations in empowering women.
