Title

ORIGIN OF RELIGION FROM PETER BERGER'S VIEWPOINT

Pages

  67-86

Abstract

BERGER is the most prominent sociologist who believes that human beings have attempted, through many centuries, to give MEANING to their life and world. According to him, man is unfinished at birth; therefore he creates religion in order to give MEANING to his life and world. In addition, religion not only legitimates the reality, in necessary important situations, in human life, but also it minimizes the MARGINAL SITUATIONS. While BERGER, in his sociology, believes that man founds religion, but his methodology shows that his viewpoint stands among theistic and humanistic views.
