Title

EXAMINATION OF ATTITUDINAL AND MOTIVATIONAL FACTORS, FOR PREDICTING MATHEMATICS ACHIEVEMENT, IN ORDER TO COMPILE A STRUCTURAL MODEL, IN SECOND GRADE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

The purpose of present article was to make research in order to compiling a MODEL for explaining and predicting mathematics achievement based on MOTIVATIONAL ATTITUDES (including Individual, familial and scholastic factors). Subjects were 120 male high school students from Tehran, which chosen thorough multiple stage random sampling. Method of research was prediction type of correlation. The research instrument employed, were three reliable questionnaires. Also Mathematics grade took as basis for mathematics achievement. SPSS software employed for analyzing data. Then the proposed MODEL was tested by LISREL software and REGRESSION equation computed and hypothesizes were tested. Results of first hypothesis showed that individual, familial and scholastic factors can predict mathematics achievement. Results of testing the second hypothesis revealed that proposed MODEL had not fit index and this hypothesis did not confirmed. Results of testing third hypothesis showed that all three factors partially predict MATHEMATICAL ACHIEVEMENT (I.F=. /67, F.F=. /61 and S.F=. /49). Forth hypothesis testing revealed that with respect to F.F, A.F can predict more variance of MATHEMATICAL ACHIEVEMENT.
