Abstract

Introduction: NURSEs complain from high workload, shift rotation and job stress. These problems cause low QUALITY OF WORK LIFE, exhaustion and ultimately leaving job. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation dimensions of quality of life of NURSEs and some demographic characteristics in Zanjan hospitals in 2004.Methods: In this descriptive-correlation study, 390 (all NURSEs in Zanjan hospitals) NURSEs were participated. Instrument was in two parts demographic and "QUALITY OF WORK LIFE Nursing" with four likert subscales: 1.work life/home life, 2. work design, and 3. work context and 4.work world. Validity of the instrument was measured by content validity Index and reliability by alpha Cronbach (r=0.88). Data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed by using SPSS v.11.5.Results: Results showed that %90.5 of NURSEs were female and %9.5 male. %84 of NURSEs were under 40 years age range and %75.6 was single. In addition, results showed that there is a negative correlation between work life/home life and work world (r=-0.46). However, results showed a positive correlation between work world and work context (r=0.66).Conclusion: Lack of autonomy to decision making, providing balance between family and work life, job promotion were the problems of NURSEs. These finding can help policy makers of nursing.
