Abstract

The Tether )USDT( rate. considered equivalent to the US dollar. is a key factor for those seeking to preserve asset value against extreme fluctuations and inflation. This study examines whether changes in Tether’s rate can impact USD rates in the Iranian market. or vice versa. Using data from February 2, 2024, to May 14, 2024, and applying the VAR model and Granger Causality test. the research analyzes the causal relationships between the Herat USD rate. Sulaimaniyah USD rate. and Tether in the digital exchanges of Nobitex and Wallex. The results show that Tether follows USD rates during business hours. but outside of working hours. Tether can influence USD. especially in short-term intervals. This insight suggests that Tether can help stabilize exchange rates in non-active hours. allowing policymakers to use digital exchanges. for currency management
