INVESTIGATION IMPACT OF CULTURAL QUOTIENT ON MANAGERS TASK PERFORMANCE

Abstract

 Cultural intelligence is one of the most efficient tools which helps managers perform their tasks more effectively in various cultural environments. This kind of intelligence is a special ability and proficiency which enables the human to perform his/her tasks efficiently in multicultural situations. In this research, the correlation between cultural intelligence (with its four factors) and managers’ TASK PERFORMANCE is assessed. To examine the cultural intelligence; the standard questionnaire of cultural intelligence was used. Furthermore in the case of manager’s TASK PERFORMANCE, the questionnaire was used according to Campbell’s partitioning of managers tasks. The statistical universe of this study includes managers and employees of the branches of EN Bank in Tehran. Stratified random sampling method was used to select 30 managers and performance questionnaire was distributed among all personnel of each branch (225 employees). The results show that there is a positive and meaningful correlation between manager’s cultural intelligence and TASK PERFORMANCE. Especially the correlation between CULTURAL QUOTIENT (CQ) strategy, CQ COGNITIVE and TASK PERFORMANCE was meaningful. Also the results indicate that cultural intelligence does not have any significant correlation with manager’s background and educational certificate. When inspecting the correlations between four aspects of cultural intelligence, the results represent that there is a meaningful correlation between CQ STRATEGY and behavior with CQ STRATEGY and motivation. Moreover, it is found out that cultural intelligence directly influences the manager’s TASK PERFORMANCE which is attributed to CQ COGNITIVE and CQ BEHAVIOR.
